Chapter 93
I sat at the end of the long table in the Bloodmoon Pack leader’s ebony high–backed chair, hands clasped, resting against my chin. My gaze fixed on the thick, closed oak doors, hardly blinking.
She was already thirty minutes late.
Ashley wasn’t here. The long table was lined with elders and core members, their patience clearly wearing thin. Whispered conversations buzzed around like annoying flies on a quiet summer night, echoing under the high ceiling. Someone drummed their fingers on the table impatiently, while others didn’t even bother hiding their disdainful scoffs. The three–day deadline had passed, and they were all waiting to see the proxy Luna fail, eagerly anticipating her public humiliation.
I clenched my teeth, tension coiling in my chest. What the hell was going on? She’d never been late, not for something this
critical. It didn’t make sense.
The sharp clack of heels on marble broke through the murmurs. Cecilia strode over, carrying a thick file, her every move deliberate and graceful. She was wearing a fitted black skirt suit today, every inch of her exuding poise and confidence, her typical flawless smile hanging on her lips.
“Alpha,” she said, leaning in slightly. Her voice was soft, but you could hear the hidden edge in it. “The time is long past. Everyone in the council is waiting for the proxy Luna’s report. If this keeps up, I fear the dissatisfaction will grow out of control. Perhaps it’s time you reached out to Ashley yourself.”
I shot her a cold stare, catching that fleeting glint of schadenfreude in her eyes before it disappeared behind her perfect mask.
Without a word, I pulled my phone from the inside pocket of my suit. My fingers found her number automatically, as if it were etched into my memory. Hitting the call button, I put it on speaker.
The sound of the ringing tone filled the room, harsh and unyielding. One ring. Two rings. Three.
No answer.
My heartbeat skipped. A chilling sense of dread slithered up my spine like a venomous snake. I hit the redial button again.
Still, just the dead sound of silence.
The chatter in the Pack Council Hall jumped an octave. One of the elders stood up, his tone sharp and confrontational. “Alpha, are we seriously wasting the time of the entire Bloodmoon Pack for a woman who doesn’t even respect punctuality?”
Cecilia sighed dramatically at just the right moment. She extended a hand like she was trying to comfort me, but when her eyes met my cold stare, she quickly pulled it back.
“For the love of the Moon Goddess, this is just heartbreaking,” Cecilia said with a voice full of mock sorrow. “Alpha, personally, I have no doubt Ashley didn’t intentionally poison those kids with the cake. She’s just… inexperienced. But the way that incident stirred up the pack–it’s been catastrophic. The rage of the people feels like it could burn the manor to the ground.”
She paused, letting her gaze sweep across the room before continuing. “Under this immense pressure–and facing the judgment of the council–a powerless Omega without a wolf spirit… isn’t it possible she’s fled the territory in fear, Alpha?”
The Pack Council Hall erupted in chaos. The elders roared in anger, with some even calling for an immediate full–scale search
order.
“Bang!”
I slammed my palm against the solid black ebony table. The force was so powerful it left a deep, jagged crack across the thick wood.
The hall fell silent instantly. Everyone froze, their mouths clamping shut in fear.
Slowly, I stood up, my gaze fixed sharply on the woman who thought she could manipulate the situation.
“Can the crap and keep your nasty assumptions to your self, Cecilia.

“Ashley isn’t some coward supsing off with her tail between her legs when things get tough. She’s tougher than anyone sitting in this room. She promised she’d come back in three days, and she will she’ll be right here with the truth in her hands.”
I’ll never allow anyone to pin the shame of betrayal on her.
But Ashley — where are you? What are you doing right now?
Suddenly, an unbearable pain slammed into my chest like a blade tearing through my ribcage.
