Chapter 98
“There was a pile of cash inside and those powders!
“The note only said to find the cake shop owner at the orphanage and have him mix in the drugs!”
“Later, another message ordered me to ambush that woman on the mountainside!”
I tightened my grip viciously, yanking off chunks of his scalp along with his hair. His agonized screams grew louder, more desperate.
“You“re lying.” I reached for a glowing–hot iron brand from the rack of torture implements nearby.
The searing metal radiated a deadly heat in the dim light. Without hesitation, I pressed it onto his chest.
Sizzle.
The stench of burnt flesh filled the air instantly.
“Give me the name!”
The rogue wolf writhed and convulsed in agony, his eyes rolling back. “I swear! I’ve never seen that person!
“That guy’s careful–always uses unmarked envelopes to send instructions!
“I’m begging you, Alpha! Just end it for me!” I picked up the syringe from the table.
It was filled with concentrated wolfsbane extract–the deadliest poison for werewolves. I jammed the needle into his carotid
artery.
Half the liquid was pushed in. Blackened veins instantly bulged on his neck, spreading rapidly across his body.
He let out an inhuman screech.
His body convulsed violently against the silver chains.
“Last chance for you.”
I stared down at him, cold and unyielding.
“Who paid you?”
He coughed up a thick spray of black blood, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
“L… I really don’t know.
“That guy’s a devil.”
Then he completely passed out.
I looked at his pitiful, sobbing mess of a state with disgust.
Damn it.
The rat behind this was hiding way too well.
No fingerprints.
No scent traces.
Every lead ended here with this idiot.
I tossed the cooled branding iron aside.

Turning around, I grabbed the damp towel handed to me by one of the guards.
I wiped my fingers clean with deliberate care.
“Get rid of him,” I ordered firmly over my shoulder.
“Dump his body in the square at the rogue wolf settlement.
“I’ll make sure everyone on this land understands.
“This is what happens when you touch Ashley.”
The guards lowered their heads respectfully and unsheathed the silver blades at their waists.
The dungeon returned to dead silence almost instantly.
The next morning.
The central plaza of Alpha Manor was packed with the wolves of the territory.
The Pack Council Hall elders sat on the high platform, whispering among themselves.
I strode onto the platform, stopping at the microphone in the center.
The cedar scent of a top Alpha’s pheromones swept across the crowd.
The thousands gathered fell silent immediately.
Not a single murmur dared to escape.
“Bring him up.”
Two elite guards dragged the trembling bakery owner forward, throwing him onto the stone ground at the center of the plaza.
He knelt there, shaking from head to toe.
“Confess your crime to everyone,” I ordered, glaring down at him.
He swallowed nervously, trembling as he cried out into the microphone, “It was me! I did everything!
“That rogue wolf gave me a bunch of money and handed me the powder! \
“He threatened me—said if I didn’t mix it into the orphanage treats, he’d kill my whole family!
“The acting Luna had no idea about any of it!
“She not only didn’t poison anyone, but she also risked her life chasing down the truth, She was nearly killed by that rogue wolf!
“I’m a sinner! I’m willing to accept any punishment!”
The crowd erupted into an uproar.
