Though the highest-quality item from this Golden Chest was only Rare, in Chloe’s eyes, every piece was a treasure

Especially the items rated Special Items the system evaluated as Special were always remarkable, and she had no doubt about their efficacy.

The magical books were the same. They didn’t carry a quality rating, but shefaready owned one soch book and had no doubts about their value. She believed information and knowledge were power.

She then checked the Runic Refrigerator and the Magic Runes. She hadn’t had anything cold to eat or drink in so long

Before transmigrating, she’d been on her period and had been denying herself her beloved iced coffee for days.

She had no idea if women in this world even had menstrual cycles. She’d never seen anyone on the public channel complain about it.

She tidied herself up and sat on the edge of her bed, her gaze fixed on the view beyond the glass window.

It was pitch black outside the cabin. There were no lights, only the faint, rhythmic thumping of construction in the distance.

She wanted to understand this world better.

Outside, the rain drummed on. The area where the Arcane Workbench sat was now shrouded in a layer of mist and cloud.

Seated on her bed, a rare calm settled over Chloe. She made a mental list of things to find.

A small night light, something bright enough to illuminate the area outside the cabin. Chloe loved light, warm, cozy light,

She wanted to expand the cabin, too. The room was a little too small, and it got damp so easily, the rainy days always carrying a faint smell of mildew.

She also wanted a proper bookshelf, a good desk, a chair, a lamp, a bathroom, a real toilet, and several partitioned rooms.

Lately, her bathroom situation had been utterly primitive. Like a cat burying its waste, she’d dig a hole in the corner and cover it up.

At least her abundant water supply let her clean up with Aqua Sphere.

There were no tissues, no soap, no toothbrush. All the things she’d been used to were gone now. Not exactly absolute necessities, but their absence stung whenever she reached for them.

She hadn’t taken a proper bath in a long time. The system warned that the rainwater carried trace corruption and posed an infection risk

Looking clover, she could faintly see tiny black threads suspended in the collected water. She had the distinct feeling washing in it would only make her dirtier.

Chloe woke and checked her status. Her Energy had fully regenerated to its new cap of 300.

Outside, the rain carried an ominous, murky green tint. It looked filthy and sparked nothing but grim associations.

Bad news awaited her. All the meat stored in her System Backpack was now marked as spoiled and rotten. She had a food shortage problem.

Chloe got up. Her Workbench was still locked in its construction cycle. She still owed RichDragonWolf his umbrellas, and the thought of it needled her. She didn’t like owing anyone anything.

She’d have to find something of equal value to those magical materials and gift it to him later.

She checked her backpack and focused on her territory upgrade requirements. Many novice players had already advanced to a Level 1 territory. Chloe was still stuck at Level 0.

Once the Basic Arcane Defense Tower finished, she’d satisfy the two-building facility requirement.

She reviewed the resource demands: 500 Wooden Logs, five 500 stones, 100 Basic Crystal Materials, 300 Iron Scraps, and an additional 100 units of a random basic building material.

She then looked at her current stockpile: 303 Basic Wooden Logs, 78 Iron Scraps, and 54 stones.

The corners of her mouth tightened as she smiled bitterly. “That’s a warning. I’m so painfully poor.

The hardest building requirement was nearly met, yet she couldn’t even come up with the most basic materials. She simply couldn’t afford the upgrade.

A wave of exhaustion swept over her. She had to keep gathering supplies.

Her Talent Points now stood at 7. 5 were reserved for the Magic Defense Tower. That left 2 points free.

In the acid rain, Chloe threw on her usual makeshift raincoat, a plastic sheet with a hole cut out for her head, grabbed her umbrella, and stepped outside.

The moment the rain struck the umbrella’s canopy, a system prompt appeared: [Acid Rain corrosion detected. Current remaining umbrella durability: 17 hours.]

Chloe stared at her umbrella and let out a quiet sigh. This was with the system having already reduced the environmental damage. She shuddered to imagine how much worse it would be without that protection.

he walked over daer little garden patch. Her territory had grown considerably, now a full six-by-six exparise of soil in the Jazy rain, her eyes couldn’t even reach its far boundary.

It no longer felt like she had nowhere to step.

The carrot sprout had grown taller, now as long and slender as a finger. It was her test seed. If she could successfully grow this carrot, she’d start planting the rest of her seeds one by one.

Before bed the night before, she’d built a tiny trellis for the seedling out of plastic sheeting and sticks. Now the plastic was pitted and corroded, leaving only a few frail twigs standing.

When she put on the Flora Whisperer’s Cap, she saw the text boxes she’d expected floating above the little carrot: [Pain. Acid burns. Soil too acidic. Standing water.]
