Chapter 38

The monsters were especially numerous at night,

The Verdant Fogling had already stripped the carrots clean, leaving behind only a fe green stalks jutting from the soxt Since it showed no interest in anything else and simply lay there, Chloe gave up on dealing with it for the time being.

She focused on eliminating the other mutant beasts crawling onto her land,

But once the battle truly began, Chloe realized the monsters had leveled up

Even with the weather bonus, Aqua Sphere barely scratched these mutant beasts.

There were more than a dozen monsters tonight, including Mutant Snow Eagles, Mutant Lightning Bears, and even a Mutant Giant Elk.

These beasts were exceptionally dangerous, possessing intelligence nearly equal to humans. They hunted in coordinated packs deliberately probing for weaknesses in Chloe’s defenses with unsettling precision.

When Chloe attacked with Aqua Sphere, they hung back, watching what happened to the other mutants she hit, as though they were analyzing her moves.

Their disturbingly human-like behavior sent a chill down Chloe’s spine.

The three superior mutant beasts didn’t approach. Instead, they kept their distance, watching Chloe closely and sizing up the situation.

As Chloe fire off Aqua Spheres nonstop like a turret mage, the Mutant Snow Eagle shrieked sharply. The nearly three-foot- tall beast spread its wings, glided swiftly through the storm, and landed above the cabin.

With a mournful screech, the Mutant Snow Eagle opened its razor-sharp beak and blasted out a flurry of icy mist, instantly freezing the cabin and the Aqua Spheres swirling overhead.

Seizing the moment, the Mutant Lightning Bear charged straight for the Arcane Soil Purifier, its massive paws pounding the ground as it closed in.

Despite its hulking frame, the bear moved with surprising speed. Its powerful claws came crashing down toward Chloe’s prized purifier.

Chloe’s face shifted in alarm. She instantly unleashed a barrage of Aqua Spheres to intercept the bear’s strike.

Without a second thought, Chloe ditched the cabin and focused all her efforts on protecting the Arcane Soil Purifier.

If the cabin was destroyed, she could always rebuild it with basic materials.

But the Arcane Soil Purifier was a Grand Epic item, glowing with magical energy. Even if repairs were possible, they would likely require an enormous fortune in advanced materials.

This purifier was the foundation of her entire agricultural survival.

Chloe acted decisively, planting herself right on top of the purifier. She fixed her cold gaze on the mutant beasts before her.

These monsters were a total headache.

As though sensing how vital the purifier was to her, the giant elk snorted out a blast of scorching air, let out a fierce roar, and aimed its massive, tangled antlers straight at the purifier.

Even though the rain was icy cold, Chloe’s palins were slick with sweat.

Her heart thudded in her chest as layers of Aqua Spheres floated at her side. Acting of pure instinct, Chloe conjured dense, reinforced Aqua Spheres to block the giant elk’s path and slow its charge.

The Mutant Snow Eagle spotted an opening. A cold blue glow shimmered from its beak as it unleashed a chilling wave. instantly freezing the rain around it and turning the air into a swirling frost mist.

Right then, the Lightning Bear made its move and launched a fierce assault.

Chloe had no choice but to abandon the Arcane Soil Purifier.

Filled with fury and unwillingness, Chloe stepped back, preparing to retreat when a notification chimed

[Basic Arcane Defense Tower has been built.

[Automated Defense System activated.]

Chloe felt a ferocious, overpowering wind surge around her.

The wind blew the rain off course, swirling it violently through the air.

The intense, savage magic in the air made the atmosphere shimmer with a tangible, swirling dark teal hue.

The eagle shrieked in terror, desperately trying to break free from the wind’s grip. Meanwhile, the cunning bear sensed danger instantly and bolted to the other side for safety before the others could even react.

But the giant elk’s momentum was unstoppable. Unable to react or turn back, it charged straight into the raging wind zone.

The explosive winds shredded the giant elk to bits in an instant.

[Congratulations! You have slain the Flame Elk (Epic)!]

The dark teal winds spun up like a mini tornado, expanding and spilling out across the battlefield. They broke apart into a bunch of smaller twisters, racing straight for the Mutant Lightning Bear and Mutant Snow Eagle.

In an instant, a stream of rewards rolled in one after another.

But Chloe wasn’t paying any attention to the notifications,

Her gaze fell on the ravageif soil. The air still carried the scent of scorched earth. Wild wind magic lingered, ant the storme rossed rain had settled into a soft patch of drizzle where she stood.

She looked over the land, torn up and full of craters from the insane destruction, then glanced farming zone.

The Verdant Fogling, which had stubbornly clung to the carrots no matter what Chloe did, had finally transformed into a sparkling loot chest.

‘Seriously?’ Chloe thought, feeling utterly speechless at the scene.

She went over to check the carrots and the Arcane Soil Purifier closest to the loot chest. After confirming they were totally fine, she spotted a special status effect on them.

[Gale Shelter: Protected by a layer of howling winds. Structures cannot be damaged until the wind shield is broken!

Chloe’s heart was racing.

She slowly turned, glancing over her shoulder.

There it was, the Basic Arcane Defense Tower, built after all her hard work, standing tall like a giant, silently guarding this tiny patch of land.

The tower’s body was forged from some unknown black metal, with a subtle, ominous sheen. At its peak, a core surging with savage magic powered the whole structure. The wild magic made faint traces of multiple elemental forces flicker and swirl around it.

The elements weren’t pure, waves of fire and water elements rippled through, making the energy unstable and turbulent.

It was likely these chaotic energies that made the tower’s destructive power even greater than expected.

The wind circled around it like a loyal guardian.

Low-key but extravagant, it was the very picture of all Chloe’s magical fantasies come to life.

Suppressing her overwhelming excitement, Chloe opened the system panel for her Basic Arcane Defense Tower.

She barely noticed anything else, her eyes locking onto a single line.
