CHAPTER HUNDRED-THIRTYFIVE
TRICIA
It’s been a couple of hours since I was locked up in this stupid stench filled cellar, and I was close
to losing it. I knew how evil my mother could be, how far she could go.
She was not just going to lock me in here and starve me for a couple of days. No, she would make
it slow. She wanted me to break. To beg. But I’d rather die than give her that satisfaction.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, my hands shaking. It was another text from the
unknown number. My time was ticking and it was only a matter of time before he loses his
patience and leaks everything.
“The clock is ticking, Tricia. And you’re running out of it. If I don’t have my money by sunrise, the
whole world will know what a monster you are. I wonder what the Vampire Council will have to say
about a ripper who exposes their kind to the humans. Or worse, what Dominic’s pack will do to you when they find out you killed his human friend. The humans and the werewolves will have a common enemy now. The headlines would be ‘Vampire Kills Human on Werewolf Territory’. A war would definitely be inevitable. That is, if the Council doesn’t execute you first. Tick tock.”
A cold dread washed over me, so intense it made me feel physically sick. This was it. This was my end. The text was not just a threat, it was a declaration of my doom. He knew everything. My
involvement with Dominic, the location, the implications. He wasn’t just a random blackmailer; he was a puppet master, and I was his puppet. He had orchestrated this perfectly, trapping me
between my mother’s wrath and the world’s judgment.
I had to get out. I had to get to that money.
I scrambled to my feet, my eyes adjusting to the gloom. I started searching the walls, my hands
running over the rough, cold stone, looking for any weakness, any loose brick. I was losing my
patience, my hands were starting to bleed, but I didn’t care. I had to get out.
And then, I felt it. A loose brick. I pushed, and it gave way. I clawed at it, my fingers raw and bleeding, until I managed to pry it loose. Behind it was a small, dark space. I reached in, my fingers brushing against something cold and metallic.
But before I could grab it, I heard footsteps approaching. Heavy, purposeful footsteps. The cellar door creaked open, and a sliver of light cut through the darkness. I quickly put the brick back in place and turned around, my heart pounding in my chest.
It was my mother, flanked by her two guards. She was holding a crystal glass, the dark red liquid swirling inside it a stark reminder of my thirst. I could almost taste the blood from across the

room, my throat burning with a familiar, desperate ache.
Clam
“Changed your mind yet?” she asked, her voice laced with smug satisfaction. “Ready to beg for my
forgiveness?”
“Go to hell,” I snarled, my voice hoarse.
She laughed, a cold, humorless sound. “So be it.” She took a sip of her blood wine, her eyes never leaving mine. “Take her out of this cellar and put her in the one with the UV lights. Take off her daylight bracelet and leave her there until I say otherwise. I want her to remember what happens
when you cross me.”
My blood ran cold. The UV cellar. It was a torture chamber she had built years ago, a room fitted with industrial strength ultraviolet lamps. It was a place of pure agony for a vampire, a slow, excruciating death sentence. She wouldn’t just starve me; she would burn me. That cellar has killed a lot of new born vampires that dared to challenge her in the past. But she wouldn’t kill me. No, she was going to make me suffer. And that was so much worse than death itself. She was going to make sure I was weak and in pain. And I had a feeling she wanted to watch me burn. She wanted me to beg. To cry for mercy. To break.
But I wouldn’t. I couldn’t. I had to be strong. I had to get out of here. I had to get to that money. I
had to save myself.
The moment she finds out I’m being blackmailed and that was the reason I sold her things, she would make me regret ever being born. She would make sure my death was slow and painful. She would probably broadcast it to the entire vampire world to show them what happens when you cross her. My mother was a monster. A true, unapologetic monster. And I was her daughter. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?
The guards grabbed me, their grips like iron. I struggled, kicking and screaming, but it was no use. They were stronger than me, their hold unyielding. I was so weak from hunger, I haven’t fed in days,
and the adrenaline from earlier had worn off. I was no match for them. My mother watched, a
small, cruel smile playing on her lips as she enjoyed my struggle. She fed off my fear and desperation, just like she always has.
They dragged me out of the cellar and down a long, dark hallway. The walls were lined with
portraits of our ancestors, their cold, dead eyes watching me as I was being led to my doom. I could feel their judgment, their disappointment. I was a disgrace to their name. A failure.
And quite frankly, fuck them. Even in their graves. I hope they don’t rest in peace.
They stopped in front of a heavy, steel door. One of the guards unlocked it, the sound of the bolt sliding home echoing in the silence. He forcefully removed my daylight bracelet and they threw me

inside, and I landed on the hard, concrete floor with a painful thud.
Clay
The door slammed shut, and a second later, the lights turned on. It was blindingly bright, a harsh, artificial light that made my skin crawl. A searing pain shot through me, as if I was being burned
alive from the inside out. I screamed, a raw, agonized sound that was swallowed by the sterile,
white walls.
I curled into a ball, trying to shield myself from the light, but it was no use. The heat was intense,
my skin feeling tight and stretched, my eyes watering. I could feel my strength fading, my body
