CHAPTER HUNDRED-FIFTY FIVE-2
And the only way to allow her back onto pack lands
The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I knew it was our only option. We had lost the
battle, but the war was far from over.
“Dom,” I said, my voice a low murmur, so only he could hear. He didn’t look at me, his gaze locked
on Alistair. “Dominic,” I said, a little louder, placing my hand on his arm. “Let it go.”
His head snapped towards me, his eyes filled with disbelief. “What?”
“We can’t win this,” I said, my voice steady, despite the turmoil raging inside me. “Not here, not now.
We’ll look like tyrants. We’ll lose the pack’s support. Let her in. We’ll deal with her our way.”
He searched my face, his expression a mixture of anger and confusion. He knew I was right, but
the thought of conceding, of letting Yasmine back into our home, was a bitter pill to swallow.
“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice low.
I gave him a small, almost imperceptible nod. “Trust me. We will find a different way to expose her.
Let her back in so we can watch her. Watch her every move.”
He held my gaze for a long moment, a silent conversation passing between us. He saw the determination in my eyes, the cold, calculated plan forming in my mind. He saw that I was not
giving up, but changing tactics.
Finally, he let out a long, slow breath, the fight draining out of him. He turned back to the council, his expression unreadable.
“Very well,” he said, his voice flat. “The council’s decision stands. Yasmine will be allowed to return to the pack, under the conditions you have set. But know this,” he said, his gaze sweeping over each member of the council. “I will be watching her And I will be watching you. If she so much as steps out of line, if she threatens my family in any way, I will hold you all personally responsible. The consequences will be on your heads.”
It was a concession, but it was also a warning. A promise of retribution.
Yasmine’s smile was triumphant, her eyes gleaming with victory. She had won. She had gotten what she wanted. But as I looked at her, I saw a flicker of something else in her eyes. Fear. She had won the battle, but she knew, as I did, that the war was far from over. And she knew that I was not the kind of woman to let a threat against my family go unanswered.
The meeting was adjourned, and we all rose from our seats. The council members filed out, their faces a mixture of relief and unease. Yasmine lingered for a moment, her gaze meeting mine. There was no gloating, no smugness in her expression. Just a cold, hard, calculating look.

“Thank you for this golden opportunity, Alpha, Luna I promise to make it up to you and right my wrongs.” If I didn’t know the cunning woman she was, I would have sworn that her gratitude was genuine, but I knew better. I knew that under this facade of a repentant daughter was a snake waiting to strike.
“Get out of my sight,” I said, my voice dangerously low. “Your probation starts now.”
She gave a small, almost imperceptible nod, before turning and walking away, her head held high,
her posture radiating a confidence that made my skin crawl.
Dominic and I were the last to leave the room. The silence that settled between us was heavy,
thick with unspoken words. As we walked down the long, narrow hallway, the smell of old paper and lemon polish seemed to cling to my skin, a reminder of the battle we had lost.
“I’m sorry, Hailey,” he said, breaking the silence. “I failed you. I failed our family.”
“You didn’t fail, Dom,” I said, my voice firm. “We underestimated her. We won’t make that mistake
again.”
He stopped and turned to face me, his hands cupping my face, his thumbs gently stroking my cheeks. “What’s the plan?” he asked, his gaze searching mine. “Because I know you have one.”
“We’re going to give her exactly what she wants,” I said, my voice a low murmur. “We’re going to let her think she’s won. We’re going to welcome her back into the pack with open arms. We’re going to watch her every move, listen to her every word. We’re going to find out who her allies are, what
her plan is. And then, when she least expects it, were going to destroy her.”
He leaned in and kissed me, a slow, deep kiss that was full of promise and determination. It was a seal on our pact, a silent agreement to see this through to the bitter end. When we pulled away, his eyes were burning with a cold, hard fire.
“I love you,” he said, his voice a low rumble. “Let’s go home.”
The drive home was different this time. The silence was no longer filled with tension, but with a quiet, steely resolve. We were a team, a united front, ready for whatever Yasmine threw at us.
When we walked into the house, Liam was sitting at the kitchen table, a plate of cookies in front of him, his face smeared with chocolate. Valerie was sipping a cup of tea, a book in her lap. Giovanni was leaning against the counter, a cup of coffee in his hand. They looked up as we entered, their
expressions a mixture of hope and fear.
“Well?” Valerie asked, her voice tight.
“She’s back,” Dominic said, his voice flat.
Valerie’s face fell, her hands tightening around her mug. “No.”
“It’s not what you think,” I said, taking a seat at the table. “We let her back in. It was the only way.”

Giovanni straightened up, his expression hard. “You let her back in? After what she did? After she
