After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 27

CHAPTER TWENTYSEVEN

HAILEY

It was finally my first day at the pack’s hospital and I was a nervous wreck. I felt like it was my first day

working as a doctor over again, the nervousness, the anxiety, the worry, and the fear of being exposed.

He hasn’t seen me yet, but if there’s a day he’ll see me, then it would be today. And I absolutely dreaded it.

He had to sign the contract, and meet us in person, and since it’s the only hospital in the town, there was no doubt that he would walk into the hospital today.

He was the Alpha, after all. He had duties to attend to.

My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and I couldn’t breathe.

I was a nervous wreck, and this was not good.

I couldn’t afford to make mistakes, especially today.

Relax, Hails. It’s okay. You’re not alone, and if anything happens, I’m right here with you. We have done the first step by finding Liam a reputable school and he’s settling in well. Like I said, you will be on your face mask anytime Dominic comes around, which he wouldn’t come around a lot, since it’s a hospital and all, and even if he does, it would only be to check up on things. He won’t be around often. The Alpha is too busy to come down here often.

I hope you’re right, Val. If he does see me, the shit will hit the fan. It’ll all be over. He’ll recognize me in a heartbeat, and will probably kick me out and take my son away from me. I can’t afford that, Val. Now, I’m beginning to think all this was a mistake. What the hell was I thinking even? Getting demoted or probably losing my job in the UK would have been better than coming back here and facing my past. I can’t lose my

son. I can’t.

Hey, hey, calm down, Hails. You’re overreacting. That’s not going to happen. Okay, I get that you’re worried, but let’s look at this situation with a rational and level head. He’s a busy man, and even if he does show up here, which is very rare, you have a face mask on, so there’s no way he’ll be able to tell who you are. I don’t think he remembers every single person in the pack. Okay? He doesn’t have that luxury. Plus, he’s the Alpha. He has a lot of work. There’s no way he’ll bother to remember you or even look at you. So, there’s nothing to worry about.

I sighed. Okay, okay, you’re right. I’m just being silly.

Yes, you are. You’re an amazing doctor, and an excellent mother. And I know you. You don’t take crap from anyone. Not even an Alpha. If he does say anything, you stand your ground. You’re a woman who’s not afraid to speak her mind. Even though he’s the Alpha, you’re the boss. Don’t ever forget that. This is your job. You’re an amazing doctor, and the people here deserve a competent, intelligent, and qualified doctor. So, if he does threaten you, just say fuck you, and stand your ground.

I chuckled. I’ll try. But, knowing him, it won’t be easy. I mean, I was married to this man for three years.

That was ten years ago. People change, Hails. Even Alphas.

I highly doubt it.

Well, we’ll never know until you confront him. Just try not to run into him, and stay as low as possible.

I’ll try. And thanks. For everything.

No worries. Anything for my best friend. Now, let’s get to work. She started the engine of her car, and I

made a mental note to go pick up my car in the evening.

Yeah.

The car pulled up to the hospital.

Today, was the day I’d be working with a new team. I had a fresh start, a new beginning, and a clean slate.

Today was the start of a new journey, and a whole lot of new challenges. My stomach was doing flip flops

and my heart was beating so fast, I could hear it.

This was a new adventure.

And a scary one.

The fear of the unknown, the anxiety and the worry.

It was all here.

All the emotions I’d been feeling over the years, had returned, and they were strong.

Years ago, this pack had a different Luna. Years ago, things were different. Years ago, everything was

perfect.

Until he came and destroyed it all. I was in a good place, until he showed up.

But, the worst part was, it was my fault.

It was all my doing.

It was my decision.

It was my actions.

And I can never change it.

Because, that’s life.

And life was unfair.

I shook the thoughts from my head and wore my mask, taking a very deep breath.

Are you ready?Val asked.

As ready as I’ll ever be.

CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN

This was it. I was finally doing this. Something I’d sworn not to do, but a part of me wanted it.

It was like something inside of me was pushing me to do this.

Like I belonged here.

That’s how I ended up in front of the door of the hospital, with Val by my side.

I had no idea what awaited me inside.

Was the Alpha waiting?

Would he recognize me?

What about the pack members?

So many questions, and no answers.

Only one way to find out.
