CHAPTER TWOHUNDRED-THREE-2
“No,” I said, the anger in my voice a low, menacing rumble. “No, you did have a choice. To report to me. Because now you don’t have a choice. You made your choice when you decided to betray me. When you decided to hurt the one I love. When you decided to hurt my family. And now, you’re going to pay the price. Who sent you to do this? Who ordered you to poison her?”
“I don’t know,” she said, the desperation in her voice obvious.
“Wrong answer,” I snarled, the rage in me exploding.
“I don’t know!” she screamed, the terror in her voice obvious. “I don’t know! I don’t know! Please, please, believe me! I don’t know. Please. Please. Please. Please.”
The rage in me burned, the fury in me a white hot flame. I tightened my grip on her wrist, my hand slowly closing around her throat.
“Who. Sent. You.”
“Please,” she said, the terror in her voice obvious. “I don’t know.”
“You’re more terrified of them than me,” I growled, my hand tightening around her throat. “Who are you more scared of? Me, or them?”
“Please,” she said, the desperation in her voice obvious.
“Who are you more scared of? Who has a tighter leash around your neck?”
“Please,” she sobbed, the tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Tell me!” I roared, the rage in me bubbling over.
“Please, no,” she said, the fear and desperation in her voice obvious. “Don’t make me do this. They are going to kill me. They have my family and will kill them if I speak.”
“So, you’re more afraid of them, huh?” I growled, the rage in me a white hot fire. “The one who ordered you to do this is the same person you are scared of? Interesting. So, they have a hold on your family and you. How are they so powerful?”
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, the tears rolling down her cheeks. “I didn’t want to do this, I hated being part of this, but they threatened me. They threatened my family. They threatened everything. My family’s life was in danger. I didn’t have a choice.”
“You had a choice,” I said, the anger in me flaring. “You could have come to me. You could have told me that you were being threatened. You could have told me what they were asking you to do, and I would have helped you. But instead, you chose to betray me. To hurt my wife. To hurt my unborn child. And for that, there is no mercy. I don’t care if the people who forced you had your family. This is the price you pay for hurting my wife and child. And no one, absolutely no one, will take it lightly.”
CHAPTER TWOHUNDRED THREE
I turned to Carlos.
“Take her to the cell. And make sure she doesn’t have any contact with the outside world. No visitors, no phone calls, nothing. And if she tries anything, if she tries to hurt herself or anyone else, then you have my permission to put a bullet in her head. Understood?”
Carlos nodded.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Good,” I said, the rage in me boiling. “Now, take her to the cells. And don’t let her out until I say so.” Carlos nodded, his face grim. He took her away, the fear and terror on her face obvious. She was taken to the cell, and locked away. No one would be able to access her. And she would not be allowed to speak with anyone, ever. She would stay in the cell until I was ready to deal with her. Until I was ready to give her her sentence. Until the day she confesses.
I turned to the rest of the pack.
“Anyone who has any information about the one who ordered the poisoning, then step forward and tell me,” I said, the rage in my voice a low, furious hiss.
The crowd was silent, no one daring to move. No one daring to speak. The tension was thick and heavy,
the fear in the air obvious.
“No one? Is no one going to talk?” I snarled.
No one answered.
“Fine,” I said, the rage in me burning. “Then the trial is over. Licy is guilty. And the real traitor, whoever they are, are still out there. So, until I find the one responsible, and they are brought before me, no one is allowed to leave. No one is allowed to enter. And no one is allowed to come anywhere near the Alpha, or his family. Until I have found the real traitor, until they have been punished, and their family has been brought before me, no one is allowed to leave the pack. You are all on lockdown. And you are all under my
watch. Is that understood?”
The crowd was silent, no one daring to speak. No one daring to move. The tension was thick and heavy,
the fear in the air obvious.
“Is. That. Understood.”
