CHAPTER FORTY–ONE–1
HAILEY
I had gone upstairs to check on him, and was pleased to see that his vitals were strong, and his
wounds were slowly healing.
I would have to take him out of the ICU soon.
The nurses were changing his bandages, and were cleaning the stitches.
They would have to check on him once more, before sending him to a private room. He looked as pale as a ghost, and he had dark circles underneath his eyes.
I couldn’t help but notice how peaceful he looked when he was asleep. When he wasnt been an asshole, I was seeing the man I fell in love was the at first sight. Not the man who never remembered our anniversaries, not the man who never told me he loves me, not the man who would leave me alone for hours, days, and weeks, without a word, not the man who was cheating on me, and didn’t think twice about telling me.
He looked innocent.
Like he didn’t have a care in the world.
But, we both know the truth.
He was a monster.
A monster that was pretending to be a good person, while hiding behind a facade. He needed a doctor, and I unfortunately had to be the one to step up and save his cheating ass.
Shaking the unprofessional thoughts from my head, the nurses left as I decided to take notes of
his condition.
I walked towards him, and stopped dead in
my
tracks.
His scent hit me like a slap in the face, and my wolf growled.
Mate.
My mate.
Fuck.
This was bad.
It was as if his scent had brought all the memories back, and the feelings were hitting me full

force.
I wanted him.
His wolf was beneath the surface, I could feel him. For the first time in years, I could feel his wolf
and boy had my wolf missed him. They drew closer, and they were fighting for dominance, wanting
to claim their mate, wanting to shift right this moment and literally devour me.
I quickly put some distance between us as my wolf was trying to claw her way out, and mark him.
No.
He wasn’t my mate anymore.
My wolf had lost her mind.
I took a deep breath, and counted to ten, calming my racing heart. I turned around to leave, when I
heard him groan.
“Hailey.” He muttered.
My head snapped back to him, and he had his eyes closed. The heart monitor was still going crazy, and his face was contorted into a grimace.
His finger twitched, and his body was starting to shake.
He was having a nightmare.
“Hey, calm down. Shhhh, Dominic, calm down. Everything is going to be fine.” I said, walking
towards him.
He was thrashing on the bed, and was trying to rip off the bandages and the IV drip.
I had to stop him before he did.
He was going to kill himself, and not that I was supposed to care, but I couldn’t have his death on my hands when I could just stop him.
“Dominic, listen to me. You need to calm down. Everything is going to be fine, I promise. You’re safe, and you’re not going to die.”
I kept saying things, trying to calm him down.
His breathing was coming out in short gasps, and I placed my hand on his cheek.
He immediately froze, and calmed down. His face instinctively nuzzled into my hand, and the feeling of his skin touching mine sent shivers down my spine.
“You’re okay, Dominic. You’re going to be fine.”

CHAPTER FORTY ONE T
“Don’t leave me, please. I can’t lose you, Hailey.”
I sighed, and closed my eyes.
What the hell was he dreaming about, and why was he begging me to stay. Why did his voice
sound so broken and desperate.
I had no idea, and I didn’t know what else to say.
“Everything is going to be fine. Go back to sleep, Dominic. Go back to sleep.”
And, like magic, he went back to sleep.
He was finally calm.
I let out a breathe I didn’t know I was holding as he finally calmed down. The heart monitor was slowing down, and his breathing was evening out.

CHAPTER FORTY ONE
CHAPTER FORTY–ONE–2
He was safe.
I gently pulled my hand away, and backed away from him.
What the hell was that?
He was dreaming.
He was probably delusional, and thinking I was someone else.
Yes, that was it.
He probably wanted to call Yasmine and mistakenly mixed up our names.
Speaking of Yasmine, as soon as I pulled away from Dominic’s sleeping figure, I turned to the door and found Yasmine glaring at me with pure hatred in her eyes.
Her fists were clenched, and her body was trembling. She looked like she was about to have an anger breakdown.
“You. Stay away from him, slut. I don’t know what kind of spell you have put on him, but trust me, you will not win. You think you can just walts in here, and get him to fall for you. Well, you are dead wrong. He’s mine, and there is no way in hell I’m letting you anywhere near him. You hear me? I will never allow this, and if you keep trying to take my man, I will kill you, Hailey.”
“First of all, I don’t have a spell on anyone. Your husband is delusional and he mistook me for you. He was calling your name, and begging you not to leave him. Now, if you don’t mind, you need to leave now. You are not allowed here. I already have enough trouble without you being a pain in my
ass. Leave. Now.”
I tried to be as professional as I could, but it just didn’t come out right.
She turned her lips in a fake pout as she left the door and walked up to my face. “Oh, is poor little Hailey still sad that her husband dearest and soulmate left for me? Haven’t you wondered why? What was it he saw in me? Why me, and not you? That’s because you are not worthy of an Alpha like him. He’s mine, and you have no right to talk to me that way. I am the Luna, and you are a lowly doctor and no matter how hard you try, you will always be the same woman, that was cheated on. That was dumped. That was left for dead. And trust me, Dominic is not going to fall for your charms ever again.”
Deciding that I was done playing nice and professional while this little bitch thinks she can insult me and get away with it. I smiled, and leaned forward, placing my hands on my hips.

CHAPTER TORTY ONE 2
“Wow. So, the great and powerful Luna can’t stand a little competition. How sad. What, did you think, that your threats and insults would scare me, or that I would run away crying like the little girl you think I am? Aren’t you ashamed that every single thing you have or achieved is all bound to a man. Your position, your title, and the fancy house. It’s all bound to Dominic. You are the Luna of this pack because of your marriage. What do you think is going to happen, when he finds someone even better, and dump your pathetic ass. I don’t compete with bitches who don’t have a fame to their name. Awards and a fucking degree. Or the fact that I am not only known in this pathetic pack, but worldwide? That’s something your sorry ass will never have, so I suggest you shut the fuck up, and get the hell out of my hospital. Because if you don’t, then I’ll personally make sure that your dear husband doesn’t live to see another day. Do we understand each other?”
I said with a sweet smile on my face.
Yasmine growled, and glared at me. “You will not win this battle-”
I didn’t let her get the last word in as I cut her off. “Trust me, I already won.” I said, and walked out the door and slammed it.
With my head held high, and a smirk on my face, I felt a sense of pride and happiness.
No one insults Hailey, and gets away with it.
Not anymore.
This is a new chapter, and she’s not going to ruin it.
