After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 60

CHAPTER SIXTY1

HAILEY

My shift was finally over, and for the first time in hours, my shoulders sagged in relief. I was finally finished with the day, and had completed the surgeries I was supposed to perform.

Dr. Anderson, there’s a patient in room three. He needs an examination.”

Oh, alright. I’ll head over there right now.

As much as I would love to argue that my shift was over and I didn’t needto do an examination, my conscience wouldn’t let me.

Great. Dr. Williams will be joining you.

That’s fine.

With that, I walked out of the lounge, and headed towards the patient’s room. What’s the situation?

He’s a sixty four year old man, and his wife reported some concerns. He’s experiencing some numbness in his hands and arms, and she’s worried he might have developed carpal tunnel syndrome.”

Alright. Thanks, nurse.

No problem, doctor.”

I entered the room, and saw an aged man, sitting on the bed, with his wife standing beside him.

I immediately got to work, attending to him as quickly as possible while being conscious of time as I would have to go pick Liam up from school soon.

I had earlier on promised him a little treat and he gets to have ice cream and his favorite cake, courtesy of my busy week.

He had been a good boy, and had done really well in school. So, it was the least I could do for him.

After the examinations were completed, I went over his results.

Alright, Mr. and Mrs. James. The good news is, your husband doesn’t have carpal tunnel. It’s a simple case of dehydration, and I’m sure it’s probably due to the hot weather. So, the treatment is simple, and is just a case of drinking plenty of fluids. I’ll prescribe some vitamins, and also give him an IV drip. He should be as good as new in no time.

Oh, thank god. I was worried he might have developed the syndrome.”

Yeah, but no need to worry. It’s nothing serious, and I’m sure he’ll be fine in no time. The IV will take about

two hours, and then he can leave.

That’s great. Thank you so much, doctor.”

It’s my job, Mrs. James.”

CHAPTER SIXTY I

Please, call me Mary.”

Alright, Mary. Just stay with him, and keep him hydrated. Make sure he drinks a lot of water, and I’m giving you some vitamins which he should take. It’s important for him to rest, and to stay hydrated. Alright?

Of course. I always tell him that. He just doesn’t listen. Stubborn old man.

Now, now, love. I listen to you.Her husband argued, and she laughed.

Yeah, yeah. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

I chuckled.

Well, that’s it. Take care, Mr. and Mrs. James.

You too, Dr. Anderson. And, thank you.

Anytime.

I left the room, and sighed. I couldn’t wait to leave, and have a nice and peaceful evening. I went to my office, packed up for the day, picked up my car keys and bag and headed out.

Once I was inside my car, I let out a breath.

God, today was so damn busy, and I was exhausted. It’s going to be a rough week, and I really needed to destress and relax.

As much as I loved my job, the stress that came with it was no joke. It was a demanding job, and had a lot of responsibilities and duties.

Not to mention, the pressure.

Especially, the pressure to excel, and be the best.

My phone buzzed, and I took it out of my bag, wondering who it was. As soon as I saw Dominic’s number pop up on the screen, I groaned, throwing my phone back into the bag.

I had been ignoring his calls and messages, and didn’t feel like talking to him.

I couldn’t deal with him right now, and honestly, was avoiding him like the plague.

But, it seemed like he wasn’t going to give up anytime soon, and would not stop until he had me back. Honestly, it was getting really annoying, and was starting to make me feel like he didn’t have a life of his own, or a busy schedule.

Because, lately, he has been calling me non stop. It’s been almost three days, and he’s been constantly bothering me, asking me to pick up the phone, and answer his messages.

But, I didn’t have the energy or the patience to deal with his drama.

It’s not that I didn’t care, or didn’t want him.

I did.

But, the reality was, things were different.

We were not kids anymore, and there were a lot of things to consider.

For starters, we were two completely different people. And as much as I hated Yasmine for destroying our marriage, I still do by the way, she is his wife now, and I don’t deal with married men.

That’s a no no, and something I would never ever do. I was already having to live with the guilt and Shane of the one we had done. But, it shouldn’t repeat itself.

And, the thing was, I still didn’t know where he and I stood, and what this was.

Did he want to get back together?

Did he just want sex?

I was confused, and it was driving me crazy.

But, the biggest question was, did I really want to get back with him?

Could we even go back?

Would we even last?

These questions were constantly haunting me, and were eating me alive. All I wanted was a peaceful life, and didn’t want any trouble or drama.

But, it seemed like no matter how hard I tried to escape the chaos, it always found a way to find me. Dominic was the drama, and as much as I hated admitting that, the truth was the truth.

I was not in the mood for his shit, and would rather focus on more important things.

Like my job.

And Liam.

Because, let’s face it.

When it came down to it, Liam was my priority, and nothing else mattered.

So, yeah.

I didn’t want to deal with his shit, and would much rather ignore him, and hope that he would take a hint and get the message.

Starting my car, I pulled out of the hospital parking lot, and began the drive towards Liam’s school.

I’ve not really had the time to spend quality time with my son and I didn’t want him to feel neglected or abandoned.

That was the last thing I wanted, and I hated it when he felt like he was alone, and didn’t have anyone. I pulled up in front of his school, and waited.

In no time, a bunch of kids came rushing out of the building, and started heading towards their parents

cars

Liam’s classmates all waved at me, and I returned the gesture, smiling. But Liam was nowhere to be seen, and I frowned.

Where was he?

Hooked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. But, he wasn’t anywhere in sight, and the school bell

had rung.

It was the final bell, and if the students didn’t leave, they would be marked absent.

And I would rather not have that on his record.

Sighing, I unbuckled my seatbelt, and got out of the car. I closed the door, and headed towards the school entrance, looking around.

There were only a few kids left, and the place was starting to get empty.

Where was he?
