Six months passed by in a blur, and just like that we arrived in December.

It was almost Christmas, and everyone was busy shopping, decorating and getting into the festiv The city was beautiful and decorated with lights, and everything was magical.

Everyone was wearing sweaters and scarfs, and the stores were filled with people. It has started and everyone was excited.

Christmas was my favorite holiday, and it was even better this year, because I get to spend again Liam and Valerie.

We were now on holiday break from the hospital, but we can still be called in for emergency or urg surgeries.

However, I haven’t received any call, and so I could spend more time with Liam.

We were at the mall, shopping for gifts and decorations. I have always loved the holiday season, an only thing that would have made it better was, if my parents and the rest of the family were alive.

But, life doesn’t always go as planned. And that was why Liam and I were going to make a stop at the cemetery after we finished our shopping.

My six year old loved Christmas just like me, he would be so excited to decorate the house, and put t tree together.

My heart clenched at the thought of him being six years old, and how much he has grown. He was becoming a young boy, and the years are passing by so quickly and soon he would become a teenager it hurt my heart to think that he might to get a ‘I hate my mom‘ stage or be a rebellious teen

“Will Santa visit us?”

“I’ve been a good boy.”

“I know, baby. You are the best, and the nicest little boy in the whole world. So, Santa is going to bring yo a lot of presents.”

“Can we also get a puppy? Can we please get a dog, mommy?”

Oh no… I loved dogs, I absolutely adore them, but I barely had time for myself and my son, how was I going to take care of a dog too.

“Um, well… Maybe, not now. I’m not sure, baby. A puppy is a big responsibility, and we have to walk them, feed them and give them water. They also need lots of love and attention, and sometimes they make messes. So, we need to make sure, that we are ready, before getting one. Okay, baby?”

“But Mommy, I’m ready. I promise I’ll walk him and clean up after him. I’ll even change his litter box and make sure he gets lots of water.”

“That’s great, but, maybe later. Okay, baby. Now, go find some more toys you like. We still have a lot of shopping to do, and we still need to buy Valerie, Giovanni and something.”

“Mommy? Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure, my love. What is it?”

“Is Uncle Dominic my daddy?”

Oh. My. God.

How did I not see this question coming. Of course, Liam would be curious, and want to know. He ha spending that last couple of months with Dominic, he and I barely spoke unless it was related to Liai I liked it that way. I didn’t understand the way I was feeling, and it was better this way.

“Baby, where did you get that idea?”

“He spends a lot of time with me, he gives me toys and treats, and he even said that I’m a good boy. I

Oh Dominic. His charm has worked yet again, even his own son wasn’t excluded. In just a couple of months Ljam has warmed up to him and now wants him to be his dad. This s was the first time Liam

Instead of answering the question, I asked him. “Would you want Uncle Dominic to come here and shop with us? Maybe, he can help us pick out some gifts, and have lunch together. How does that sound, baby

“I will, baby. Just go ahead and finish looking around, and I’ll talk to Uncle Dom and see if he’s available

“Okay, Mommy”

Liar ran away, and continued exploring the toy store, and I pulled my phone out and texted Dominic

Me: Liam wants to see you Would you like to go shopping with us?

His reply came almost immediately

Dominic: Is that okay with you?

Me: It’s fine. Liam really wants you here, and he finally asked the question

Dominic: What question?

Me Why aren’t you his dad?

Dominic: And what did you say?

Me: I wanted you to be here before we answered it. So, are you available or not?

Dominic: Of course, send me the address.

I could almost hear his excitement through his text.

Me: 1010 32nd Street.

Dominic: Be there soon, sweetheart.

I ignored the endearment, and put my phone back in my purse.

Liam was happy and excited, and so I was. Even though the circumstances weren’t perfect, I had no choice but to go with the flow. I had no idea what the future had in store for us, but for now, things were finally getting back on track.

We have spent the last couple of months apart, and I have focused my attention solely on work and Liam.

After my conversation with Valerie, few months ago. We concluded that maybe, just maybe Dominic was bewitched, but when he subtly broke it to him, let’s just say it didn’t go quite well with him.
