Chapter 634 Stubborn Vow
Her words sounded brutally harsh.
If one ignored the faint tremor in her hanging hands.
Lucas froze, forcing a bitter smile, “I’m sorry, I’ve brought you trouble once again.”
Tammy drew a deep breath, “Yes, you’re nothing but a massive hassle.”
“I’m sorry.”
He had nothing but apologies to offer.

His broken body counted down the days of his life, while she remained full of energy, bright and youthful.
Yet driven by pitiful selfish longing, he’d clung to her for this short stretch of time.
Perhaps this choice had been wrong all along.
“Tammy, I think we should end this.”
Those words swallowed every complaint Tammy had been holding back.
“What did you say?”
“I said, let’s break up. Even if this was a fake relationship, it deserves a proper ending… You’re free now. No need to waste your time stuck here with me. You can go anywhere you wish… do anything you’ve ever wanted… I can no longer keep pace with you… I’m worn out, and I’m staying right here.”
It took him a long time to finish that lengthy speech, pausing repeatedly, speaking in broken fragments.
His complexion paled even further.
Anyone could see he didn’t have much strength left.
Tammy stared fixedly at him, saying nothing.
Lucas deliberately shut his eyes, “I’m tired and want to rest for a while. You may leave now-the driver is waiting outside.”
Footsteps echoed.

But they did not fade away; they drew closer and closer.
The second he opened his eyes, a hand clamped tight around his throat.
He lifted his gaze and met Tammy’s frigid stare.
His body went rigid.

“You said we should be together, and I agreed. You said we should break up, and I was supposed to accept that too? Did I ever agree? Since you’re so determined not to live anymore, why don’t I send you on your way? Wouldn’t that be better?”
As her words fell, her grip tightened slowly.
Agony teetering on the brink of death washed over him.
He did not struggle. He only kept his eyes locked on hers, filled with reluctance, pain, and a faint plea to live.
At the very last second, Tammy released him.
Cough cough cough cough…
Lucas broke into violent coughing fits.
“Does it hurt?”
“Tammy…”
“Death is permanent-once you’re gone, everything vanishes. If you’re afraid to die, then hold onto life properly. I keep every promise I make, and nothing you say to back out now will change that.”
Tammy wiped her hands, poured a glass of water without hesitation, and held it out to him.
“I’ll stay by your side for this next month, to see you through to the end.”
Lucas’s eyes burned bright red.
“Tammy, has anyone ever told you how utterly wonderful you are?”
“Plenty of people have.”
Lucas let out a quiet, bitter laugh.
His heart overflowed with sorrow.

Tammy decided not to seek out Tatiana for the time being, so she scrapped her surprise plan and dialed Tatiana’s number instead.
At that exact moment, Tatiana was attending a dinner with Liam.
When Tammy’s call came through, she gestured that she needed to step outside, and Liam nodded in understanding.
She walked out into the hallway and answered.
“Tatiana, it’s me.”
“Of course I know it’s you. What’s wrong? Has something happened?”
“I’m back, but I can’t come see you anymore.”
Tammy rambled through the whole story in a rush, ending with a wounded, dejected tone, “Tatiana, I miss you so much.”
Tatiana’s heart softened, her voice turning gentle, “I miss you too, darling. Don’t cry.”
Tammy sniffled, “Send my regards to Ann and Hubert for me.”
“I definitely will.”
“And… is there any way to find an even more skilled specialist?”
“You want to seek treatment for Lucas?”
“Seeing him half-dead like this gets on my nerves. He’s such a big burden, he might as well hang on and stay alive.”
Tatiana knew Tammy had a kind heart deep down. Even after everything she’d endured, she’d never wished cruel retaliation on anyone-she only refused to turn away from this man.
“I know a top expert in this field; I’ll send you his number. He might have new treatment options.” She paused briefly before continuing, “But I can’t guarantee positive results. Lucas himself is an outstanding doctor, and he understands his own condition better than anyone.”
“I know. I just want to try everything we can.”
“Alright. Take good care of yourself, and call me if you run into any trouble.”
