A deep, familiar voice called my name, causing me to take my attention away from the document I had been studying so intently and look up slowly from the table in the command tent. In front of me stood my warriors, looking at me with bright smiles on their lips and their eyes wide and curious as they waited for my response with that familiar energy they always carried whenever they had something on their minds. Ares, my second-in-
command, stood in front of them, equally looking at me with the same expectant expression as the rest of the group.
I looked at them, taking in their eager faces and the way they were all gathered there as if this was the most important matter in the world, before letting out a resigned sigh. I dropped the document onto the table with a soft thud. “Out with it. What are you curious about this time?”
I knew them very well by now. They were crazy people who liked arguing about something for hours on end, and when they didn’t come up with an answer among themselves, they would come to me and bother me with the question as if I was some kind of divine being who held all the answers to the universe.
Sometimes I didn’t even know the right answer, and even if I said the wrong thing just to make them stop bothering me, they would still take my answer as the correct one. They always said something like, “I’m the Moonborn, I know many things,” and they trusted me completely. Seeing them now with those hopeful faces, it was probably because of that
reason again.
One of the warriors stepped forward with a wide grin, rubbing his hands together excitedly as he said, “General, we have a very important question to ask you.”
I raised my eyebrow, already bracing myself for whatever nonsense was coming my way this time. “What is it?”
Ares smiled when he saw my confused face and said, “My lady, what do you think happens to people when they die?”
I was confused at the unexpected question. “Huh? What type of question is that? How did you even get to that conversation?”
Another warrior quickly explained. “We were talking about how it felt to almost die in our last battle, then the conversation led to how each of us would like to die if we had the choice,

then it led to what happens to someone if they die. Some of us chose that our soul would disappear immediately, others said our soul would go to either The Celestial Realm or The Underworld depending on what merit we have in life.”
I shook my head slowly, unable to hide my disbelief. These people really think about the weirdest things in the world. Why would they start thinking about how they wanted to die in the middle of an active war? People sometimes say I was as crazy as my warriors, but I didn’t see it. I was more sensible. I didn’t throw her life around.
Just then, another warrior grinned widely and spoke up with clear amusement in his voice, “The weirdest one is Ares though.”
I turned my gaze toward Ares and tilted my head slightly, my curiosity piqued as I asked him calmly, “What did you say?”
Ares looked at me and scratched the back of his head, appearing a little embarrassed as he replied, “It doesn’t make any sense. I don’t even know why I thought about it.”
The warrior who had brought it up smiled even wider and encouraged him, “Come on, tell the General. Your idea and concept is very interesting.”
Everyone in the tent turned their attention fully to Ares, waiting expectantly. Ares sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair before finally speaking in a quiet but thoughtful voice. “I said… what if this was not our first life, or even our fifth life? What if this was one of the many lives we have lived? What if every time we die, we just go back to the past and repeat the same pattern all over again, and we don’t know? What if we are all in a loop, and we are experiencing everything all over again?”
I watched Ares, unable to look away. For some reason, those words hit me in a place I didn’t even know existed inside me. I didn’t know why those words felt so deep. My chest ached for some reason, a strange and unfamiliar pain blooming behind my ribs as if his theory had brushed against something buried far too deep within my soul.
Seeing the sudden tension in the air, Ares quickly tried to brush it off with a nervous laugh. “I’m saying nonsense. It’s not possible. Even if it was possible, I don’t think the Moon Goddess would let it happen. Well… unless you really mattered to her.”
The warriors nodded in agreement, murmuring among themselves. Ares looked at me then, his expression softening into something sincere and warm. “But you know… even if what I said was true, even if we die and go back to the past without any memories, I will not be sad. Because each time I spend with everyone and with you, General, is like a dream I don’t want to wake up from.”
He smiled. “I will choose to serve under you. I choose to let it happen all over again.”
I looked at all of them, at their faces filled with the same quiet loyalty and affection, and
