Chapter 69

“I-… umm. I couldn’t find-…” Blake blinked a few times and shook

his head. “I couldn’t find Rosy but she’s here, so yeah” he finally

managed. He cleared his throat a little at the end and tried looking

around, trying to keep his eyes off me.

“Yes, here I am. You look very handsome Blake” I said, with the big

smile still plastered on my face. I was so enjoying this.

Blake had a black 3 piece suit on with a black bow tie. He had his

hair gelled back a little different than normal but he looked very

edible.

He adjusted his tie a little and looked away. He didn’t have a

comeback? That was weird.

“Right, this isn’t awkward at all. Maybe we should go inside mum” Emily laughed.

“Sure darling. Rosy, will you be sitting with us?” Sue asked as she

adjusted her dress. She quickly turned around to look at herself in the

mirror behind her.

“Well, Blake has an extra chair for his plus one at your table. If he

is okay with it, I can sit with you.” I tangled my hands together and twisted my ring.

Sue smiled at me. Her smile reaching her eyes and it made me

happy. They were accepting me. All of me.

“Okay well, we shall let you guys sort that out. Come soon, Blake.”

Nate put his elbow out for Sue. They linked arms and Nate walked

towards Blake and said something to him in his ear. Blake nodded and

rubbed his face. Nate patted him on the shoulder and they walked

into the hall arm in arm. Emily was right behind them.

I looked up at Blake. He was staring in the direction his family had

gone. What was with him? He was acting so weird. He normally had

so many compliments for me. Did he really have nothing to say

today? Fuxk, did I not look nice? His reaction told me that he was

taken back by my look but maybe I read him wrong. I had never

dressed up like this around him and maybe he didn’t like it.

Once the Coopers disappeared, I cleared my throat trying to get

Blake’s attention. When he turned to look at me, his eyes were pitch

black. Those dark orbs had gotten darker and they looked terrifying.

But how did that happen? The lightning hadn’t changed. What the

hell? He must have seen my reaction and he quickly turned his head

and rubbed his eyes.

“I’m sorry my contacts are itchy,” he said.

“Ready?” He asked and didn’t even wait for my reply. He started

walking and I followed.

As we got to the door, I put on a smile and kept my head down. My

left hand was on display with the ring sparkling under all the lights. I

heard a few gasps and some even went quiet. I mustered the courage

and looked up to find lots of eyes on us. People were clearing the way

for us as well. There were a lot of people we knew in the crowd. Some

had shocked looks on their faces, others had smirks or smiles. People

had been talking about us for a while and now it was all official.

Patrick and his wife were sitting at the table over from the

Coopers. He was staring at us while trying to get Brady’s attention.
