Chapter 7
Sandra sat at the edge of the bed. staring blankly at the ceiling. Eduardo had called her name several times before she finally came back to herself.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked.
Sandra blinked as if waking from a dream. “Did you call Angelique? Is her phone back on?”
Eduardo paused and looked at her. “No. It’s still off. It’s been two days.
“That’s strange… She’s never done that before.”
Sandra’s fingers curled slightly against the sheet.
That day, Angelique had handed the transfer documents to Catherine, waited for her to sign, then brought Lenora over to Catherine’s side.
And then she left. Sandra hadn’t even noticed when she disappeared.
By the time she realized it, Angelique was already gone.
The old Angelique wouldn’t have done this. Even at her most rebellious, she’d always come home at night.
What if something had happened?
Sandra sat up, anxiety prickling in her chest. “How long has Angie been gone?”
Eduardo frowned. “Four days, at least.”
A chill settled heavily in Sandra’s heart. An unexplainable panic rose inside her.
The next morning, Sandra went straight to Catherine’s hospital room.
“Has Angie been here?” she asked the moment she entered.
Catherine blinked, caught off guard. “No, Mom. Maybe she’s just gone out to have fun?”
She would never go
cash flow. I need about 500 thousand dollars.
“Could you maybe…”
“Don’t touch anything for now,” Sandra cut her off. “Wait until Angie comes back. Have her walk you through it herself.”
With that, she turned and left without another word, leaving Catherine frozen in place.
After Sandra walked out, Catherine chewed at her fingertip, unease creeping deeper and deeper.
She hadn’t misread it-Sandra truly didn’t treat her the same way anymore.
But why? Nothing had been exposed. What had gone wrong?
Meanwhile, Lenora came home from boarding school.
The moment she opened the door, she automatically looked for Angelique-but the house was completely empty.
Holding her test paper, she stood there for a few seconds, then quietly returned to her small room and began her homework.
She’d gotten first place this time. Every other time she had ranked first, her mother had been overjoyed.
This time, with her mother gone, she would just wait for her to come home.
But the evening came and went, and neither of her parents returned.
The next morning, Lenora woke up and went to the living room.
Kenneth was there. He must have come back sometime in the night.
Now he sat motionless on the sofa, staring down at his phone, brows knitted.
“Dad! Is Mom home yet?” Lenora asked.
Kenneth looked up and saw his sleepy little girl standing there clutching her test paper.
“I came first again! I want to show Mom!” she said brightly.
“And I want her to make pancakes. Mom’s pancakes taste much better than Mommy Cathy’s!”

Chapter 7
288 Nouch
The words hit Kenneth like a physical blow. The unease he’d been nursing flared into a roaring fire of panic.
Without another word, he jumped to his feet and rushed out-straight toward the Benson’s
mansion.
Something was wrong. Something was terribly, horribly wrong.
Angelique must be in trouble.
Kenneth drove fast. The moment he arrived, he saw Eduardo and Sandra hurrying out of the house, clearly shaken.
“Eduardo! Sandra!” he called, blocking them. “Have you heard from Angie?”
Sandra’s eyes were red. “No!”
“She finished signing everything at the hospital the other day… and then she was just… gone. We thought at first she needed some space, but it’s been four days. Her phone’s been off the whole time.
“Kenneth, do you think something has happened to her? It’s already been three days. Can we report her missing?”
Kenneth’s thoughts were a tangled mess. He forced himself to focus.
