Amnesia Erased Luna's Pain and Love novel Chapter 8

The day she was discharged, the hospital room was silent and empty.

Florence already knew—Baldwin had gone to see Ursa again.

Three years as his mate, and she could count on one hand the number of days he'd actually stayed by her side.

She had grown used to it. Quietly, she waited for the potion to arrive. He had never marked her, after all. Once she drank it and broke their bond, he would never be able to find her again.

The witch had said the potion was special—it would sever the connection on her end, but Baldwin wouldn't sense anything wrong until three days later. By the time he realized what had happened, she'd be long gone from the Nightfang Pack.

Meanwhile, Ursa's Facebook page never stopped updating.

Skiing in Shaudal. Moonlit strolls on tropical islands. A photo in front of the Proit Tower.

In one snapshot, Baldwin was gently adjusting Ursa's scarf at the foot of a snowy mountain, her smile radiant in his arms. The caption read, "He promised to show me the whole world."

Florence scrolled past with the same indifference she'd show a stranger's post.

Three days later, her phone rang. It was the witch. The potion was ready and left at their usual drop point.

That same day, she also received notice from the Elder Council: her disownment paperwork had been finalized.

Without delay, Florence called a cab. She picked up the potion, then stopped by the Council to retrieve the official Letter of Disownment.

Everything was ready. She could finally leave—for good.

Back home, she downed the potion in one gulp. Agony tore through her. It felt like her soul was being ripped apart. Her face went pale, but she bit her lip hard, refusing to scream.

Her wolf writhed and howled in her mind, the pain far worse than any silver-laced whip.

Time lost meaning. When the torment finally faded, something inside her felt missing.

Florence sat up, drenched in sweat as though she'd been dragged from a lake.

She stumbled to the shower, changed into clean clothes, and finally felt a little better.

Her lips were bloody from biting too hard. Her wolf was barely conscious—its strength shattered from the severed bond. Recovery would be slow.

Sighing, Florence glanced at her phone. The screen had just lit up.

Ursa wrote, "Florence, can we talk?"

Florence asked, "About what?"

Ursa replied, "You've been Luna for three years. Don't you think it's time to give it back to me?"

Florence let out a bitter laugh. She typed, "I already did."

She tossed her phone into her bag, alongside the Letter of Disownment and the Termination of Mate Bond Agreement.

She was hungry and thought of making herself some food.

But just as she stepped into the kitchen, a sharp pain struck the back of her head.

Darkness crashed in; before she passed out, she heard the voice of Ursa and a werewolf.

...

When she came to, her face stung from the wind. Her eyes snapped open. She was dangling over the edge of a cliff.

Coarse rope bit into her wrists, and she could smell the stench of wolfsbane from the fibers. Her limbs burned. Below her feet stretched a seemingly endless drop into blackness.

Even if she could shift—which she couldn't in her weakened state—she'd still be shattered by the fall.

She turned her head—Ursa was hanging nearby, suspended just like her. But her expression? Completely calm.

When she noticed Florence staring, Ursa sneered.

"You're awake?" A masked werewolf, one of the kidnappers, grinned darkly nearby. "No rush. Your man will be here soon."

As if on cue, thudding footsteps echoed from the distance.

Wolves—large and fast—raced toward the edge of the cliff, stopping just in time.

They shifted back into human form.

Baldwin stood at the front in a black coat, face cold, his aura sharp as steel.

"Take the money. Let them go." His voice was low and commanding.
