Madison returned to Goodwin Corp, but the security guard stopped her at the entrance.
"Sorry, Ms. Quinn. You can't go in." He sounded polite, but the disgust on his face was evident.
Everyone there already knew she had betrayed Sam again. And just ten minutes earlier, the new order from the CEO's office had them cheering.
Sam had finally snapped out of it.
Still, their excitement didn't last long since they knew Sam too well. He might be furious right now, but he would probably take the order back soon.
Madison had no clue what was going on. Her eyes widened as the guard blocked her path. She pointed at herself as if she couldn't believe it and looked at the guard.
"Are you saying I can't go in?"
He nodded. "Mr. Goodwin gave the order ten minutes ago. From now on, you're not allowed in the building, Ms. Quinn."
Madison's face went stiff, and she suddenly looked dazed.
Had Sam banned her from Goodwin Corp? No way.
She shook her head, refusing to accept it. "No. That's impossible. Sam would never say something like that."
When it became obvious she wasn't buying it, the guard curled his lip. "If you don't believe me, call Mr. Goodwin right now. Either way, you're not getting in unless he says so."
Seeing how serious he was, Madison pursed her lips. A few seconds later, she dug her phone out of her handbag and called Sam.
She planned to wait for Sam and tell him herself that she hadn't done what they were accusing her of. She kept telling herself that once she explained everything, he wouldn't stay mad.
Yeah—that was the plan.
Madison kept telling herself it would be fine, but her shaking hands and the tears she couldn't stop made it painfully clear how scared she really was.
At the same time, Benjamin received a message from one of his team members. Madison was still waiting outside the entrance of Goodwin Corp, and they wanted to know what to do.
His first instinct was to tell them to ignore her. But after a moment's thought, he headed for the CEO's office instead.
"Mr. Goodwin, Ms. Quinn is downstairs asking to see you. She… doesn't seem fine. Do you want to see her?"
