Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 111

Inside a villa on the edge of Portelisse, Madison sat stiff on the couch, taking in every detail of the room while trying not to give her emotions away.

The layout was understated but clearly expensive. Aside from a few pieces of furniture, it was obvious no one had lived here before Madison arrived.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she spotted a row of guards outside, each one planted beside a wolfdog. Clearly, they were there to make sure she didn't even think about escaping.

Hank's voice cut through the silence. "Ms. Quinn, you'll be staying here for the next six months. You're not allowed to leave or contact anyone. Someone will be assigned to look after you.

"There are novels in the study that people your age usually enjoy, and we'll update them regularly so you don't get bored."

Hearing all that, Madison had to admit the setup sounded pretty well planned. They had even considered that she might get bored.

But were these people really from Mudward Isle? In her last life, when she was sent there, all they ever taught the women was how to please men.

Reading novels? Not a chance.

She frowned but kept the question to herself. Even if she asked, Hank wouldn't tell her anything real, so what was the point?

Besides, based on what happened in her past life, he wasn't even supposed to know Mudward Isle existed.

Hank noticed her frown. "Ms. Quinn, is something bothering you?"

Madison almost blurted out what was on her mind, but the words caught in her throat.

She still wasn't sure whether these people were connected to Mudward Isle, and she couldn't risk tipping them off or dragging Sam into it.

She forced a smile. "Not at all. Since I'm already here, could you loosen the ropes?"

Madison shifted to the side so he could clearly see her hands tied behind her back.

Hank stared at how calm and cooperative she seemed, and it set off a small alarm in his head. Something didn't add up, but he couldn't figure out what.

Still, it wasn't his problem. He was only here for the paycheck. If anything blew up later, William could deal with it.

As soon as Madison's hands were free, she asked where her room was and headed upstairs without hesitation.

Hank watched her disappear and couldn't help but think that most people would have fallen apart by now. No wonder she had caught Sam's eye.

Still turning everything over in his head, Hank turned to leave and pulled out his phone. "Mr. Goodwin Senior, I've already dropped Ms. Quinn off at the villa."

William's voice crackled through the line, rough with age. "Did she give you any trouble?"

Hank thought back over the trip. "She fought a little at first, but after that, she went along with it. She didn't shout or try anything."

William sounded genuinely surprised. "She just quieted down and cooperated?"

Hank nodded. "Yes."
