Janet's bodyguard said, "We found the guy who framed Ms. Quinn. His name's Johnny York."
Janet went still. She couldn't tell if she was more shocked that Johnny had managed to buy off Sam's people or furious over what he had done.
She pressed her lips together. "Do you have solid proof?"
"We do. There's surveillance of Johnny cutting a deal with that maid, and we have his bank account statements."
"Good. Send everything to my email, then find out where Madison went," Janet said in a low voice.
"Ms. Quinn has gone missing?" The question slipped out before the bodyguard could stop himself.
Janet gave him the short version. "Yeah. She was in a car crash this morning. They took her to the hospital, but someone moved her to a different one. We have no idea where she is now."
"Should we call the police?" he asked.
Janet hesitated. "It hasn't even been 48 hours, so they won't open a case. We should keep digging first. If we still come up empty, then we'll call the police."
Reporting it would blow up fast and turn into a mess. Besides, Janet still had no idea whether Sam had taken Madison or if someone else had stepped in. If any of that leaked, the stock value of both Quinn Group and Goodwin Corp would be affected.
The bodyguard got what she meant and hung up.
A few minutes later, Janet received an email from her bodyguard. She opened the files and skimmed through them. The evidence was solid and airtight.
She planned to call Sam and clear Madison's name, but his phone never connected.
By then, it was time for Janet's flight. With no word from Madison and no way to reach Sam, she decided to fly to Marowa herself.
…
On Sam's end, he had just wrapped up the bidding for Project ET. Unsurprisingly, Goodwin Corp won, and the news hit Helvaria almost instantly.
After Goodwin Corp's PR team posted a celebratory announcement, several major corporate sites jumped into the comments to congratulate them within minutes.
Simon heard the news while he was eating at home.
Lydia noticed the way his face fell. "What happened? You suddenly look pissed."
"Sam won the bid for Project ET."
Lydia stared at him, stunned. "You're kidding. Didn't they say someone leaked the project details? How did he still win?"
After thinking it through, Ethan chimed in, "Maybe he saw it coming and prepared ahead of time."
The moment he said it, he remembered blowing 80 million dollars just to obtain that information. A sharp stab hit his chest.
Damn Sam. He hid his cards well.
Yelena heard the news too, though it didn't shock her at all. If Sam was willing to bring Madison into Goodwin Corp, he must have already planned for the fallout.
After thinking it over, she messaged Simon. "I'm in. Same thing you mentioned last time."
He replied almost instantly, "Good. We'll go over the details tomorrow in person."
