Half an hour passed by quickly. At that moment, the spacious meeting room was filled with many people.
Madison sat at the head of the table, a stack of files in her hand. These were the profiles of the company's senior staff that Brett had compiled for her.
She read them and matched the names to the faces in the room. Soon, all the executives had been identified.
Unfortunately, Johnny had already bought off half of them, while the other half were people arranged by Kaitlyn.
Just as she was deep in thought, Johnny's icy voice rang in her ear. "Ms. Quinn, everyone's here."
Madison looked over in surprise when she heard his tone.
Although she had unilaterally fallen out with Johnny in recent days, he kept trying to win her back whenever he saw her. He had never once given her this kind of attitude.
She narrowed her eyes. There was only one possibility that could make Johnny give up on reconciling with her—he had switched targets.
Or, he had found some other leverage that made him feel he no longer needed to flatter her.
Madison pulled herself from her messy thoughts. She hadn't forgotten the main agenda. "Since everyone is here, I'll announce the primary purpose of this meeting.
"Starting today, I'll be taking over the company. Within three days, organize everything related to the projects you are currently handling—as well as those you plan to initiate—and deliver them to my office.
"Of course, for this extra workload, I'll have the finance department calculate triple overtime pay and add it to this month's salary."
With that, the executives who had looked displeased immediately relaxed their expressions.
Madison took note of their reactions. "If no one has any objections, we'll proceed as planned."
Everyone looked at one another, then turned to Johnny and Kaitlyn. Sensing the crowd's gaze, the two spoke in unison. "No objections."
Since they had no objections, the others naturally had none either.
The biggest shares went to Johnny and Kaitlyn.
Now, Madison was clearly demanding they cough up what they had taken. But they had spent it over the years—where were they supposed to dig it up from?
Johnny pretended not to understand their looks. He took on a businesslike tone as he said, "What are you looking at me for? Do as Ms. Quinn says."
Kaitlyn didn't speak. Instead, she kept an eye on the time.
It had been almost an hour since Johnny made the anonymous call, so it was just about time for the people to arrive.
As she was thinking this, someone knocked on the meeting room door. The next second, Danielle pushed the door open. Behind her stood several people dressed in uniforms.
She then looked at Madison with a grave expression. "Ms. Quinn, the Department of Revenue is here. They say someone reported our company for tax evasion."
