After hearing what Sienna said, William indeed recalled her identity, and a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.
"Since you're willing to try persuading that brat, I'll give him one more chance. But don't let me down again, Sienna."
"I'll do my best!"
Sienna understood what William meant—she had stayed by Sam's side for so many years, yet she still hadn't managed to steal his heart away from Madison.
William waved his hand, signaling her to leave.
…
At the same time, Madison was also discussing this matter. "Sam, are you sure it's okay not to go back?"
Madison had overheard the phone call earlier and was looking at Sam with worry in her eyes. She didn't want him to lose Goodwin Corp again because of her.
Sam met Madison's anxious gaze and patted the back of her hand to reassure her. "Don't worry. He wouldn't dare really strip me of my position."
Currently, in the Goodwins, aside from Sam, no one could hold up Goodwin Corp.
That was, unless William personally took charge. Unfortunately, his health couldn't handle the strain.
Since she could tell that Sam had a plan, Madison didn't press the issue.
Soon, she realized the car wasn't heading back to Northcrest Villa and said in surprise, "This doesn't seem like the way home."
"It isn't. I'm taking you to eat."
As he spoke, the car stopped at a Chelayan restaurant.
After entering a private room and ordering, Madison remembered that she hadn't thanked him yet. She then poured a cup of tea for herself and for Sam.
"By the way, Sam, I still haven't thanked you for pulling me out of that mess. I'm really grateful for your help. Thank you."
She raised her tea as if to toast him.
Sam arched a brow and glanced at the teacup on the table. "Just a cup of tea as thanks?"
Madison blinked, then instantly caught on. "Of course not. I'll thank you properly later."
"In that case, I'll be waiting." Sam lifted his teacup and took a light sip.
Even if there was a reason, he still didn't like it—especially not Johnny, who had occupied her thoughts for years.
"I'll have someone look into this. For now, focus on eating."
As he spoke, the restaurant staff began serving the dishes.
While looking at the table full of fragrant and delicious food—all of which were her favorites—Madison stopped dwelling on it. She picked up her utensils and began to eat.
Whenever she ate something tasty, she didn't forget to put some on Sam's plate.
"Sam, try this fish. It's really tender."
"And this soup is great too. Did you have some, Sam?"
The meal ended with her chattering away.
Just as the two were about to tidy up and leave, the door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Sienna walked in.
