Chapter 274
Seeing Jamie getting more and more anxious, Sierra quickly said “It’s okay, take your time. I’m listening.”
Jamie felt more at ease thanks to Sierra’s patience, and his nerves started to settle.

He took a deep breath and said, “Normally, Dopey and Grumpy are together all the time. But when I got home from work today, Dopey was gone.
“Sierra, you know Dopey is really small and can’t open doors, so there’s no way it could’ve wandered off. I think it might’ve been stolen.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the comments section lit up with suggestions for Jamie.
[But Sierra’s a pet communicator, not a dog-finder, you know?]
[Yeah, if your pup’s missing, shouldn’t you ask the building manager to check the security cams?]
[Maybe Dopey is just being sneaky. Did you look under the bed, between the couch cushions, or inside the closet?]
[Try searching again, just to be sure.]
Jamie shook his head vigorously and explained, “No way, that’s not it. Dopey’s super energetic, but it always shows up the moment I call its name. Whenever I get home from work, no matter what it’s up to, it comes out to greet me.
“My place is tiny, and I’ve looked everywhere you guys suggested even the kitchen cabinets, nothing. As soon as I realized it was gone, I called the building manager to check the security footage.
“My place is tucked away in a corner, not near the elevator. The only cameras in our building are by the elevators. There aren’t any in the hallways. So, there was no footage of anyone suspicious.
“There’s no way Dopey could’ve fallen out the window. My windows are sealed, and they’re about four feet high. It can’t jump that high. I even went downstairs and checked the bushes, no sign of it, no blood, nothing.”
After explaining everything, Jamie shot a quick look at Sierra.
He saw she was still totally focused, pen in hand, clearly jotting things down so she wouldn’t miss any details.
Lost in thought, Sierra suddenly noticed Jamie had stopped talking and glanced up at him.
Then she gestured for him to keep going.
Jamie felt more at ease and continued, “I was so busy searching for Dopey that I didn’t even realize Grumpy kept trying to tell me something. I’m pretty sure Grumpy knows where Dopey went, but I have no idea what it’s saying.
“Sierra, I’ve been following your streams for over half a year now and I know you can talk to pets, so I was hoping you could talk to Grumpy for me and find out where Dopey went.”
Sierra finally got the whole story.
She glanced at the comments section, full of wild guesses, but didn’t jump to any conclusions.
She focused on Grumpy, the white cat on the screen, and gently asked, “Grumpy, can you look at me?”
Grumpy had been totally focused on Jamie, but when it heard someone call its name, those lively, odd-colored eyes finally shifted to the screen.
Noticing Grumpy was finally looking her way, Sierra jumped in Grumpy, can you tell me where Dopey, the little dog you

Grumpy’s eyes suddenly grew wide, and its meows came out gentle, but with a hint of urgency.
Grumpy asked, “You, human, you can actually understand cat-speak?”
Its voice was somewhere between a kid’s and a teenager’s, still cracking, kind of like Solomon’s.
Sierra nodded quietly.
Sure enough, Grumpy perked right up. It’d been sitting on the dining table, but now its fluffy tail puffed up as it jumped to
its feet.
It said, “That’s awesome! Hurry up and tell my silly owner. Dopey got carried off by the kid next door!”
Sierra immediately turned to Jamie and asked, “Does your neighbor have a kid?”
Jamie was stunned for a second, and then quickly nodded. “Yeah yeah, there’s a chubby boy, about eight years old, Aron. His parents work with me, and our families visit each other all the time. Was it Aron who took my dog?”
Before Sierra could say anything, Grumpy piped up, “You have no idea! That Aron kid is a total menace.
“He actually said today he was gonna mess Dopey up for good. Dopey’s such an airhead. It thinks everyone’s as nice as Jamie, so it never gets mad at anyone!
“Every time Aron comes over, he sneaks around and yanks our fur or even kicks us when Jamie’s not looking. I’ve tried telling Jamie about it a bunch of times, but he’s just as clueless as Dopey.
“I even gave him a live demo with my paws, smacking him so hard that it made a thud, but he still didn’t get it. And he keeps bragging about how tough I am!”
Grumpy rolled his eyes. “Honestly, trying to get through to him is hopeless for a cat!”
Sierra was speechless as well.
‘If it wasn’t so awkward to explain, I’d totally defend Jamie and clear his name for him,’ Sierra mused. ‘A cat hoping its owner could actually understand cat-speak? That’s pure fantasy, might as well wish for magic.
Sierra swallowed her thoughts and turned to Jamie. “Grumpy says Dopey was taken by the kid next door. Go knock on their door and ask them now.”
Jamie paused, looking a bit skeptical, and muttered, “I already asked Aron, but he said he didn’t see Dopey at all today.”
Still, he went ahead and opened the door, heading over to the neighbor’s place.
He knocked on the neighbor’s door, and a woman in her early thirties answered. She looked a little confused at first, but quickly welcomed him inside.
Jamie shook his head and politely declined, saying, “Could you call Aron out for a minute? I just want to ask if he saw Dopey today.”
Aron’s mother was clearly annoyed and grumbled under her breath, “Didn’t you just ask him before?”
Aron’s dad, sprawled out on the sofa, jumped in, “Yeah, Aron was at his tutoring classes almost all day. He didn’t see your dog, period. Did you ask the building manager? Maybe Dopey just slipped out and got lost.”
Jamie felt a bit uncomfortable after hearing that. “Please, could you guys help me out? I just need to double-check something with Aron.”
