A wave of criticism flooded the livestream chat. [Does Shawn’s brain just stop working around Natalie?]

[Shawn cannot be serious. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard.]

[Everything he says just makes me angrier.]

[Wait, why is Nat getting blamed? Sierra is the one who disappeared without telling anyone. Making everyone wait for half an hour is rude.]

[Are you serious? Sierra obviously didn’t have time to tell them. She did it for the team and didn’t even stop to eat.]

[Exactly. The other guests already ate. A thirty-minute wait won’t hurt.]

It was clear to everyone watching that Natalie and Shawn were completely out of line.

But the siblings had no idea people were talking about them online.

Natalie hid behind Shawn, playing the victim, while Shawn looked ready to step in for her.

Sierra suddenly laughed. “It’s really not a big deal. I’m not upset. Did you think I’d make a scene?”

Shawn almost spoke up to say that was exactly what she would do. In his eyes, Sierra had a history of giving Natalie a hard time.

But seeing the family resemblance in Sierra’s face, he stayed quiet.

Under her sleeves, Natalie’s hands were clenched so tight that her knuckles turned white.

After a quick bite, Sierra headed up the mountain with a pack noticeably heavier than those of the other four guests.

Andy saw this and offered, “Sierra, you can take my bag. It’s lighter.”

But Sierra just shook her head. “I appreciate it, Andy, but on the trail, you carry your own gear.”

Andy watched in amazement as Sierra climbed steadily up the trail with her enormous pack, not stopping until she reached the lookout point.

He then looked at the others, who were already worn out, and started to question his own fitness.

‘I might need a serious checkup when this is over,’ he thought.

Sierra glanced back and caught the thoughtful look on Andy’s face. It only took her a moment to realize why, seeing how out of breath everyone else was.

She’d noticed her own energy increasing lately. In the past, this climb would have wiped her out.

Under Vivian and Andy’s stunned stares, Sierra simply gave a small, knowing smile.

“You two take a break here,” she said. “I’m going to scout the area for any signs of raccoons.”

Before they set out, Sierra had questioned Angel carefully about the surroundings. This area looked the most like what Angel had described, but they still had miles of ground left to cover.

Right now, Sierra didn’t plan to wander too far from the group. As she pointed out plants and wildlife for the stream, she was really hoping to hear about any raccoon sightings.

She asked around for a while but found nothing. Even the stream viewers seemed bored.

Sierra offered an explanation. “Fieldwork is like that. You might not spot a raccoon for weeks, or even find their droppings.”

Then she started teaching everyone how to identify raccoon droppings.

In the chat, people reacted.

[Nothing brings people together like poop talk.]

[LOL, so much poop talk.]

[Sierra, how do you manage to look so elegant while discussing poop?]

[She didn’t even blink while cleaning the enclosures. More than that, she had the cameraman zoom right in on the droppings and explained them to everyone.]

[It’s just funny seeing someone as polished as Sierra doing this kind of work.]

The chat was lively and friendly, filled mostly with Sierra’s supporters, which kept the tone relaxed.

Just then, everyone watching noticed Sierra freeze for a second.

[Why’d she stop?]

[She must have seen something.]

[Wait, her expression looks different.]

After a brief pause, a look of delight appeared on Sierra’s face.

“Guess what, I really found the raccoon’s droppings,” she said, her voice bright.

It didn’t take the viewers long to understand why she was so excited.

Sierra and the team carefully examined the old droppings. “This shows the area can support them,” she explained to the stream. “It means we’re already looking in the right place.”

Thomas carefully placed the raccoon droppings into a specimen bag.

It was a strong start to their first day. They might have already found droppings from Angel’s mother or

sisters.

If so, it was likely that Angel’s second sister was still alive out there.

The team searched for another mile, but finding no further trace, they had no choice but to turn back.

After Sierra rejoined the group, the team got to work setting up the infrared cameras at the planned locations. With the last unit in place, they turned and began the descent from the mountain.

Yondeland was all majestic, isolating mountains. Their beauty came at a cost, leaving the region’s roads and economy far behind the rest of the country.

Back at the local family’s house that night, Sierra arranged an immediate courier to take the samples to a city lab for testing. With that done, she got some much-needed rest, ready to head back up the mountain.

After Sierra explained about the raccoons, everyone watching online grew excited. They were all eager to see if the film crew would actually find one.

But it was a disappointment. Other than the raccoon droppings found on day one, the crew and the research team found nothing.

On the last afternoon before they were scheduled to return, the guests came down the mountain one final time, their search once again fruitless.

At the foot of the trail, a waiting member of the research team met them, her eyes red as she turned to Sierra.

Her voice was thick with tears as she said, “We just got a call from the police. Three days ago, a street vendor reported someone selling raccoon meat. The police checked, and it was confirmed to be from Angel’s mother and sister.”
