Chapter 76-
Chapter 76
Gunner POV
It almost made me laugh out loud at Cora’s blush and shyness, as she refused to continue what I started in the shower attached to the laundry I still have a lot of firsts to explore with my girl in many ways, especially in the lovemaking area. I feel that her ex had all his fantasies filled, but not with his girlfriend. That was his biggest mistake. Cora is more responsive than he knew, and I think she will be adventurous if given the right attention. Cora is definitely one-on-one, and for that I am grateful, because I know cheating is not in her.
Cora was horrified by the marks on my back, but to tell the truth, I hardly felt them; they are marks of protecting what’s mine, and I would proudly wear them, proof of my feelings for her, and my promise to protect her, when I claimed her as my girlfriend before my club members. We protect our own. All of us, I would not hesitate to protect any of my club family.
Hard and fast, that’s how I took her, and the look on her face was pure bliss; my girl was loving it. I closed my eyes and chased my release, her core, tight, warm and moist, her hip thrusts perfect, almost like she could read what I needed to get me there faster.
After the release, we both fell asleep easily; it had been a long day for both of us.
I woke at my usual time, snuck out of bed, used the bathroom, dressed and headed downstairs to the laundry. The laundry woman would have pulled out our clothes by now and put them in the dryer. I will retrieve them and take them back upstairs. As expected, they were dry and folded in a neat pile waiting for us to collect them, and I returned to the room with my bundle to find Cora still sleeping. I placed the
clothes on a shelf in the walk-in robe, and left Cora to sleep. Tomorrow night, she will start her first night
shift at the hospital, and I want her well-rested before then.
Oddball and Dozer were in the dining room, eating. I joined them with my plate, and we sat quietly, eating
our food. It was nice to have this peaceful moment while it lasted, starting the day with the hope that the
rest of the day would bring a few laughs, instead of someone stuffing it up and causing unnecessary
tension.

“Tomorrow, we will start setting up the men. I have named the teams and where I want them to go. There are no fires, and no tents. The weather will be cloudy, but no rain is forecast. The men know what’s expected. Hacker will keep them up to date on the vans’ movements, and we expect this to go smoothly. I don’t want to bury any more of my family in this.” Oddball continued to explain the intent, and the plan sounded good, but it’s still very risky. These guys were armed and dangerous, not afraid to take lives. We are not killers, not in the way these men were, and that’s what has us worried. Even our women and children, everyone’s woman and child, were at risk. We have school buses that take that route. If he targeted a bus? I would hate to think of that outcome. Vigilantes would come out of the woodwork, and the police would be inundated with concerned citizens; they would not be able to look the other way. However, let’s hope we catch them before something like that could happen.

“What about the other clubs? Have they put plans into action? Was Hacker sending them information, too? He can’t monitor all the vans.” I was concerned that Hacker would be overwhelmed by trying to trace all the vans and might miss something important. He would never forgive himself if he missed something and someone got hurt as a result.
“Hacker sent me what he could find, and I have sent it to the different clubs. The shooters are all van drivers. We are positive about that, but how involved is the company? We don’t have that yet; it’s part of today’s work. Hacker will be researching the business, and when Cora wakes up, she will help Hacker. Still, doing background work on the drivers, all the drivers try to find a link besides the company, something recreational, like a gun club, or even paintballing, anything that they do together outside work hours. I have
two men helping Hacker, but they are new to this type of investigation and might miss something. So all
Hacker will give them are two things to look for, while Hacker and Cora will do the rest of the investigation. And now I am talking in circles. This has everyone on edge. Me included.” Oddball was worried, very worried. This was an attack that was not directly on us, and until we find out what’s behind it all, everyone is on eggshells, looking over their shoulders for danger.
“Hacker has some dashcam and street camera footage of that incident on Dormouse. We have located where the shooter was hidden, and have a face to that gunman. He didn’t cover his face. Guess the man didn’t think he would be found. Hacker is working on face recognition; hopefully, we will have a name and address for that person today, too. So much is going on at the moment that it’s hard to think about our daily work, which still needs to be done. I have more people calling for a lawyer, regarding compensation for the shooting of their tyres, and what can be done. There is little that can be done, like who to put the claim on. There’s no proof yet of who shot out the tyres. The men we are chasing can claim it wasn’t them, unless we have shell casings to match their rifle, and most were mangled in the tyre. Only a good shell casing that showed clear markings was the one we dug out of Cora’s thigh. Even the ones Gunner took from his bike were too damaged. We have photos of those bullets and have been checking them over, trying to identify any marks left by the rifle barrel, using the one from Cora as the baseline. So much happening at once has got us all working double time.” Oddball continued, our breakfast completed, but we stayed sitting at the table, the conversation open for anyone to listen in on; it wasn’t a great secret in
the club.
“Cora had been a little overwhelmed by last night’s meeting. Not so much the meeting itself, but the massive support by the people for her proposal. Did you know they offered a place on the council? Even as a casual member, they believe her insight and ability to put together a proposal were invaluable. She thinks outside the box, bringing in an idea that, when you look at it, was obvious, but others may have been too close to the problem to see it clearly.”
“That’s great news. Did she accept? Tell me she did.” Dozer asked. I could already see his cogs working on how we could use her for the club’s benefits.
“Said she would think about it, they wouldn’t want to lose her. She was bold and prepared to address the real problems head-on; they need more people like her on the council.” I replied as I picked up my cup. lifted it to my lips, and stopped, only to find it empty.

“So she didn’t give a flat out no?” Dozer asked, his smile not leaving his face.

“No, Cora’s a people person, and I feel once all this blows over, that she might agree on a casual basis. I
