Biker's Claim The Broken Angel is Mine (Cora and Jake) novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82

Cora POV

The house was perfect, larger than I expected, and better than I had dreamed for this town. I know some rich people or those trying to look rich live on the other side of town, nearer the river. When ! was told it was a mini farm, I expected something more run down and rustic, but it looked like something out of a glossy magazine.

“Cora, come on inside and have a look around, care for some Tea?” Mrs Cummins invited, with a glowing smile. I think she misses company.

“Yes, please, that would be lovely,” I replied. Mrs Cummins smiled broadly over her face, like I made

all her Christmases come at once.

“Dear, show Cora around, while I get some Tea.” Mrs Cummins turned and headed to where I

presumed the kitchen was, as Mr Cummins looped his arm through mine, and took us upstairs first, showing us the master bedrooms, the view, the huge bathroom, all for the master of the house, next level down, was for children, visitors, and such like, and then on the ground floor, there

were entertainment rooms, parlor, bathroom, laundry, dinning room, and a formal dining area, theater room, a gym, indoor pool, you name it this place had it. Lastly, there was the massive kitchen, with every appliance you could dream of.

“Tea’s ready.” We sat at the kitchen knook, and were served tea with scones and cream.

“So dear, we have several cabins out back that staff live in, a total of six gardeners, and three ladies who look after the house; they have children, but know not to come into the main house unless invited. A large garage at the moment it holds only our one vehicle, but can hold twenty no trouble, then several garden sheds, a storage room, drying rooms, a small canery, and we have but seldom use a heliport, and a hangar.”

“What’s your asking price?” I asked softly. I was going to buy it, even if it’s overpriced, because it’s perfect.

Mr Cummins gave a price, and I watched Gunner pale. This was beyond him, I guess.

“Any discount for cash?” I asked, being a little cheeky

“Why yes, we can knock a million off the price for cash.” Mr Cummins replied, if he was surprised,

he didn’t show it.

“Acceptable, draw up the paperwork, I’ll buy it, cash.” I smiled warmly at the couple as I polished off the last of the tea.

“I have the papers in my office. Come into the office, right now, and we can get them signed and sent to the settlement agent. Gunner, you can stay and keep the Mrs company, and polish off Those last two scones.” I followed Mr Cummins into the office, and we filled out the paperwork briefly considered using my father’s surname, then changed my mind. This was me, not him, he has yet to prove he is worthy to be called my father. Although he can have one of the bedrooms for himself and use the office, there are two desks in here.

We filled out the paperwork, signed it and forwarded it to the man who would get the deal done, I transferred half the money to him, which he was grateful for, he could pay off his staff, with bonuses, and buy the small place they had put a deposit on, and was waiting for a buyer to complete the sale, so far the few that came to look at the home didn’t have the finance to buy it, and some tried to get it at dirt cheap price, but I could see the quality in the place, and haggling for a cheaper price other than offering cash was an insult as far as I was concerned.

“My friend just texted, it will go through next week, but you can move in anytime. We will move to that new place tomorrow and give you the other set of keys. Thank you for buying the contents; it would have been a pain having to get the auctioneer in and sell it.” Mr Cummins said as we left his office.

“The furniture complements the place, it would be silly not to take you up on the offer of fully furnished. I have work tomorrow, but I can look at moving in on Friday, if that’s okay. Have your

man send me the day the transfer was going through, and I will pay the balance.”

“Thank you, I knew the moment I heard it was you coming to look at the place, that you would like

it, don’t mind saying I am a little surprised you can afford to pay cash, you must have had a good

start in life.”

“My mother provided for me. She is no longer with us, but she did all right, and I haven’t really spent any money just basic living, only found out today who my father is, and he had been sending money apparently. I am hoping to bring him here so we can talk and learn about each other; he will

utilise that helipad.”

“What’s his name? Maybe I know him.”

“You will know the name.” I gave him the name, and he smiled and said I had a good father, had a hard life, and that the best thing he did was get rid of that wife of his. We talked about my mother, the shooting, and he enlightened me on some of my father’s history. He knew more than what gossip rags tell you, having been in the wealthy circle for years, but he gave a lot of his wealth to their five children so they could have a good start. All he had left was a small amount of money and this house, now with my help, and he thanked me for not trying to knock the price down. I was the first one who didn’t, and cash always gives a good discount, he can move in, and start a new life in their dotage.

Mr Cummins gave me a set of keys and passwords to the security. He would inform the staff of new ownership and leave me with the staff details. The takeover should run smoothly.

We left the office to see that Gunner had polished off the scones and was on his second cup of

tea.

“Thank you, dear, it is good to see the old farm going to a good person.” Mrs Cummins praised me, not that I felt I deserved it, but it was trice, and with me buying this house, I could at last settle

down, making this town my home.

Things for me look like they are heading in the right direction at long last.

“Take some scones home, I am sure you will polish them off.” Mrs Cummins gave Gunner a container full of scones; he was more than happy to take them. He must have liked them.

We said our goodbyes, and in the car, Gunner smirked.
