Biker's Claim The Broken Angel is Mine (Cora and Jake) novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

Gunner POV

What an end to the night, this woman has me wanting more.

More of everything. Not just in bed, but with me, around me, more.

Cora makes me feel content, filling a void that didn’t know I had, and has managed to attach herself to

me so deeply that I can’t think of her not being in my life, testing me, laughing at me, and with me. I can’t

wait to move in together; it’s going to be a good opportunity to see if we are completely compatible.

The house came into view, and my heart thumped at the sight, not that it had changed, or the sight of the staff lined up waiting for us to arrive. But what it represented was a new beginning. I was sad leaving my room, and excited at the same time. I had been in a rut for a long time, and Cora crashed into my life and

showed me what I was missing out on.

Not so sure about the staff. I will conduct a thorough investigation into all of them and have Hacker do a background check. I am sure Mr and Mrs Cummins trust them, but we are not like them, and we have more secrets to hide. Cora and I will need to talk about this; it hadn’t been on my list or mine, till now,

when it became very real.

Some men helped carry our boxes to the master room. Mr and Mrs Cummins hadn’t been using this room in years, having taken a room downstairs, and had the upstairs renovated, and never moved back up. When the men had all the boxes and suitcases in this room, I thanked them and started to put my things away. I am not sure how long I had been in the room, all of my things were put away, and I had started on Cora’s belongings, those that I had an idea where they should go, and left the more personal things to her, like the underwear. I think Cora would prefer to handle that herself.

Satisfied, I headed downstairs to look around when I heard the chopper arriving, making outside, as Cora

and staff started to gather.

I can admit that I wanted to thump a few ladies about then. I rarely hit a woman, but these ladiescomments were driving that urge in me, the things they were saying, about sending pictures and the arrival of Cora’s dad, and what they would get for it. Cora dealt with it in her usual calm, efficient way, but that won’t be the end of it. No, NDA or not, they are going; the world will know about Cora soon enough. So her news won’t be new if Cora and Demetri decide to go public.

I looked around, and I couldn’t see any phones out taking pictures. The four ladies who were talking about selling information to the tabloids were close so that they couldn’t do anything yet.

Your phones, ladies.I held out my hand and waited.

What? Why?The one I wanted to send to the cells asked.

Your suggestions of selling information didn’t go down well with me. Give, NOW.I said more assertively.

Four phones were handed over.

We shall discuss this shortly. For now, you are under quarantine, meaning you are leaving this place, talking to anyone outside here, or you will find yourself in a situation you only read in books or see on the

news.I pocketed their phones and turned back to watch Cora and her father standing, staring at each

other. Neither is taking the first step.

Demetri, I am Gunner, Cora’s boyfriend.” I held out my hand with a sure smile.

Demetri turned, took my hand, and clasped my forearm with his other hand as he shook it.

Pleased to meet you.He looked back at Cora, and then to me.

Come inside, your room has been prepared, and the men can choose any room on the second floor.I moved to Cora and grabbed her gently at the waist and guided her inside.

Back to work. Clara, can you have someone show the men the rooms, and have Demetri’s suitcase sent to his room, Tea and cakes in the sitting room, please.I moved Cora to the sitting room, expecting Clara, our head housekeeper, to get the job done. I had liked her when we met at the viewingshe appeared very efficient in her job. A nononsense woman, could she give me some background on the four I didn’t like earlier?

Once we were in the sitting room, Cora took the seat I led her to. She was still looking a little shellshocked, and Demetri took the seat opposite her, both staring at each other, as if neither could

believe what they were looking at.

I wondered where I got the brown eyes from, Mum’s were lighter, more Hazel, with flecks of green. That’s what Cora was starting with? Come on, girl, you order doctors and nurses around all night, and you can’t get your head on straight with the man sitting in front of you?

Clara entered after a soft knock, wheeled in the tea trolley, and left it just inside the door before turning and leaving the way she came, closing the door with a soft click.

Tea or Coffee?I asked Demetri, who was now smiling at Cora, after her comment about her eyes. Coffee, black, no sugar, and one of those muffins, blueberry if there’s one.I played host, serving us coffee

and muffins.

Cora thanked me as I set the cup and muffin on the table near her.

Demetri took a sip of his coffee and picked up his muffin, taking a large bite out of it.

This standoff was getting to me, but it was not mine to break. I worked to make this first meeting private and as comfortable as possible. I don’t get it. They chatted a few times on the phone, so this was kind of a shock for me. I thought they were over this, the uncertainty of each other, but I guess, face to face, like this, was more surreal.

Demetri, do you have any food allergies that I need to inform the kitchen about?I tried to break the deadlock, both searching each other’s faces, and their eyes moving from head to toe and back up again. As if trying to memorise every freckle and dimple each had, and in the same places, they were so alike it was frightening.

None If permitted, I want to stay a few weeks, maybe longer, while I see what I can do from here, before considering my next step.Demetri had moved his face to look at me as he talked, but stayed standing before Cora, allowing her to continue to look at him.

Stay as long as you want, qur home is your home. Cora would be devastated if you moved into a place in

town, when we have so much space here, maybe see it as a slight against her.I joked, winking at him
