Chapter 99
Gunner POV
This was getting very emotional. I watched Cora and Demetri, both fighting back tears that were threatening to fall. I felt out of place, like I shouldn’t be in the room right now, let the two of them have the privacy to cry if that’s what both of them wanted or needed to do, but when I went to move, Cora’s hand came to my thigh, as if saying stay.
The two men who had been in here in the beginning left. I saw Demetri nod to them, and they left, guess they don’t need words spoken out loud to understand what Demetri wanted or
needed them to do.
“Demetri, Cora, it’s getting late, time for bed.” Breaking into their conversation, it was almost midnight, and we had had very little sleep.
“Yes, it’s late, I am bushed, we both worked all night, Demetri, and are running on a few hours sleep, we can pick this up another time, the pictures aren’t going anywhere.” Cora agreed, and I was glad she didn’t push to stay longer. Cora had to be as exhausted as I am.
“I agree, it’s been a long and emotional day for all of us.” Demetri stood, put all the pictures back in the box, and turned towards the door, leaving the box on the table.
“You going to leave them here?” Cora asked with a concerned look on her face.
“Are you worried the staff will enter here and take it?”
“It’s our first night here, with staff we barely know, and trust has not been earned. Who knows if they wouldn’t come in and take some photos of the contents, and leak it out later.” Demetri nodded, picked up the box, and handed it to Cora.
“Store it in a safe place, I trust you.” As he waited for her to take the box, a look of surprise flickered across Cora’s face as she tentatively took the box and cradled it like a precious
thing.
I placed my hand on Cora’s lower back, and together we walked up to our room on the top floor.
Demetri was on the other side of the hall, one door down, the afternoon sun side. He had two choices and chose the afternoon side. Only family will be allowed on this floor, even Oddball and Strike will be on the second floor. Cora was planning how she wanted this house to be before we even moved in. As the owner, she had the right to do anything she wanted.
Cora placed the box on the table, removed her clothes, letting them fall on the floor, unlike her

By the time i reted from the bathroom and snoggles in sefind Cors, she was already sleeping it duduk h for me to follow her into dreamland The bed was warm and soft, and this room was soundproot, We the others on this floor it didn’t take much for me to fall asleep, tomos
Core woke me later in the morning, it was about ten, and she climbed out of bed. I think she was trying to climb out without waking me, but kicked me by mistake, and yeah, that did it! Was alert in an instand, and a shocked Core stared at me
I
“Sorry, didn’t mean to kick you 1 am going to have a shower and then start the day I can’t sleep away the day, we both have things to do Cors disappeared into the bathroom, and climbed out, eager to follow her I stopped to empty my bladder and joined her in the shower. Con’s head was under the shower, hot water cascading down her back, when I reached out to her hips, gently moving in behind her, hoping for some time with her
“Do we have time for some fun? I whisper in her ear, nibbling her neck, my shaft already responding
“As much as i would like that, we need to start our day. Please take Demetri to the clubhouse, visit the cells, and finish unpacking and sort out a few staffing issues. Then I will come to you and see how things are going, maybe help Strike pack.” I didn’t like that answer. I had to put my own needs aside and focus on helping Cora. The night didn’t end the way I wanted it to, and neither did the beginning of today. Looks like I have to be patient. I can do that. Cora has other prionties right now, and I need to be the silent one, waiting in the background, ready to catch her if she falls, it sucks, but something inside of me says to wait, and give Cora time, this was more than what I can see on the surface, maybe Cora has some past demons she’s chasing away, and I need to gain that trust, I hear both Cora and Demetri say they have lost in people
Demetri and his men were in the dining room eating breakfast and talking softly with each other when we arrived. The food was okay, given it was almost lunchtime. It seems the cook may not have had clear instructions the day before. We gave no notice of when we would be down, I would have been shocked to find a full breakfast waiting, I know that one of the tasks

Morning I greeted the men as we entered and received polite greetings back
bemetri and two of his men would be accompanying me to the clubhouse, and the other four Would stay here and learn Cora’s routine, so they can protect her, according to Demetn Cora huffed indignantly to. Breakfast was over quickly, and it was hard leaving Cora behind, in the hands of the staff of unknowns. But I guess she felt the need to do this alone, prove herself, that she could do this. I had every confidence in her abilities. She manages an entire erhergency department, she can bring a few staff members on board.
After a too short kiss and catch you later, I left Cora behind. Demetri and his two men were in thy truck as we headed back to the clubhouse.
“You are good for Cora, I approve.” I didn’t look at Demetri as he gave me his blessing, not that I needed it. I had a hundred different comments I could have given him; instead, I kept thy mouth shut and nodded, saying that I heard him.
What did he expect me to thank him for his approval?
The clubhouse came into view, the gates opened as I arrived, and the men knew my vehicle. I slowed so the guys could look inside, but they didn’t question, not that I had expected them to. If the enforcer was bringing people in, they had no right to question; they would, however, let Oddball know I was here with guests.
Oddball came out to greet us. Not something he would do unless it were to greet the police before deciding whether to let them inside.
“Demetri, so glad you could make it. I figured you would want to greet our guests. Lads, make yourselves at home, bars open if you are permitted.” They looked at Demetri, who nodded, releasing them from following him around, and Oddball walked us through the clubhouse. Demetri looked around, taking it all in, as we reached his office. Oddball nodded to the door.
“My office, if ever you need me, and I am here, the club is not my only job.” We continued down the walkway to the door with two parts: one to a room and the other to the cells. Few get to enter this room; it looks like a storage room and isn’t very engaging. It’s all fake.
