Chase quickly replied to Xylia’s message, expressing how much he liked her design. He felt it was perfect for Quezada & Co. Apparel Design’s next season collection.
Xylia felt a rush of joy and hope as she read his response.
Excited, Chase barged into Xavi’s office without knocking. “Mr. Quezada, the designer you recommended to me is truly talented. When can she come to the company and work full–time? I want to mentor her properly.”
Chase didn’t notice Joshua sitting on the sofa nearby, speaking excitedly about Xylia’s talent.
Chase was Quezada & Co. Apparel Design’s top designer. If he recognized Xylia’s talent, it spoke volumes about her ability.
Xavi coughed lightly, signaling to Chase that there was someone else in the room.
Normally, Xavi was friendly with his employees, and since Chase was the most skilled designer in the company, their relationship was more like that of friends–easygoing and casual.
Only then did Chase notice Joshua. Immediately, he greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Garcia.”
Joshua, lounging on the sofa, glanced at Chase with an unreadable expression. “Let me see Xylia’s design.”
Chase quickly pulled up the design on his tablet and handed it over.
Xylia’s design was a strapless dress with hints of leather, combining fresh, vibrant elements with a touch of wildness. It was bold for a newcomer, but the two styles blended perfectly.
Joshua gave a faint smile, his eyes betraying a hint of satisfaction as he handed the tablet back to Chase. “Since she’s so talented, don’t you think it’s time to start promoting her, Xavi?” He tapped his finger on his cup.
Xavi quickly understood. “Don’t worry, I’ll get the team to post a preview on Twitter and give Ms. Schultz some proper publicity.”
Joshua gave a small nod, satisfied.
Chase’s face darkened. He had thought he’d found a promising designer, but now he was starting to feel that Xylia’s success was more about connections than talent.
The one thing he couldn’t stand was someone who got by on relationships, not ability.
Xavi acted swiftly. That very afternoon, he had Xylia’s design posted on the official Quezada & Co. Apparel Design Twitter account.
Besides the usual clients, many of their competitors were also following the brand.
It was clear this was an opportunity for Xylia, a rookie designer, to get some serious exposure in the industry. Quezada & Co. Apparel Design even dedicated a tweet just to praise her.

[I rarely fall for a design this much just from a sketch. Please hurry and make this into a real product.)
[Did anyone notice? This is a rookie designer, and the company is promoting her–definitely someone to watch. We won’t have to worry about having nothing to wear anymore.]
[I’m following this designer right now. I’m going to buy all her designs.]
Xylia was startled when her phone kept vibrating with notifications. She was in the kitchen, making soup for Orion. She took out her phone and saw tons of Twitter notifications.
She was a bit confused. This was a new account she had only just registered. She had planned to build it up gradually after releasing a few designs.
She never imagined that she’d be tagged by the official Quezada & Co. Apparel Design account before even posting anything herself.
Many fans followed her because they loved the dress design and left comments praising her, asking her to draw the next design, and some even reached out for collaborations.
Xylia couldn’t help but feel a rush of joy. There was nothing more rewarding than having her work appreciated.
After turning down a few studio collaboration offers, she sent a brief thank–you tweet and then returned to cooking.
While more collaborations meant more options, she still wasn’t ready to betray Quezada & Co. Apparel Design just because her career was starting to take off. She still had a lot to learn.
After delivering the soup to Orion, she returned to her room and began sketching again. She was so absorbed in it that she didn’t notice time passing.
Suddenly, Connor stumbled drunkenly into her bedroom.
Xylia had just put down her pencil and turned around, only to have Connor collapse into her arms. She instinctively reached out to catch him.
Tessa, Connor mumbled, his words slurring as he leaned against her shoulder.
Xylia froze. She knew deep down that Connor’s heart still belonged to Tessa, but hearing him drunkenly call Tessa’s name was still a shock. After all, this was the man she had truly loved for eight years.
Biting her lip, Xylia shoved him off, and Connor fell limply to the floor. She didn’t spare him another glance and went to the door to call for help.
