Joshua couldn’t quite put his finger on it–even though he was the same person before and after the amnesia, something about it just felt off.
He really didn’t like how Xylia seemed to miss who he used to be before he lost his memory.
Xylia looked really happy, holding onto his arm as she asked, “Did you remember anything?”
Joshua was about to tell Xylia what he’d just remembered.
Just as he opened his mouth, his mind went blank again.
The vivid memory that had just been there vanished without a trace.
Joshua just stared at Xylia, lost and speechless for a long while.
‘I… I forgot…” Joshua finally whispered, his voice trailing off.
Xylia looked a little surprised, but she didn’t pressure him.
She just held his hand gently.
‘It’s okay, there’s no rush. We’ve got plenty of time. If you remember, you remember. If not, don’t put too much pressure on yourself,” Xylia said softly.
Xylia’s gaze was soft and warm.
Joshua knew he should be happy, but when he caught that lingering affection in her eyes, it left him feeling strangely uneasy.
He realized how ridiculous it was to be jealous of his own former self, competing for her attention like that,
but still, he couldn’t stop himself.
When they got home, Eliza was holding their daughter, Nova, and looked over at them.
“You’re back. Did you get caught in the rain?” Eliza asked.
Xylia smiled and said, “No, we didn’t.”
She set her bag down and was about to rush over to see Nova, but Joshua caught her by the arm.
“Aren’t you going to change your shoes?” Joshua asked.
Xylia smiled sheepishly. She was so excited to see Nova after not seeing her all day, she’d completely forgotten to change her
shoes.
She was just about to bend down to change her shoes when Joshua beat her to it, crouching down and grabbing her ankle to help her change them.
His warm palm wrapped around her ankle, and that heat seemed to rush up through her body, leaving her feeling almost
electrified.
Xylia glanced down at the top of Joshua’s head, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink,

They were already an old married couple, so it wasn’t shyness–seeing him do something so thoughtful just made her feel a rush of excitement.
Even though he’d lost his memory, taking care of her was still second nature to him.
Even now, he loved her instinctively, like it was just part of who he was.
When Joshua finished changing her shoes and got back up, Xylia reached out and gently cupped his face.
Seeing the surprise in his eyes, she planted a soft kiss on his cheek.
“Thanks, hubby,” she murmured.
She thanked him quietly, walked around him, and headed into the living room.
Joshua stood there like he’d been turned to stone, completely frozen in place.
The spot where Xylia kissed him felt like it was on fire.
That warmth spread through his whole body, making him go rigid and hot all over.
But he was so excited, his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst right out of his chest.
Xylia was holding Nova, gently cooing and soothing her.
Eliza watched Joshua’s back, shaking her head with a smile.
‘Seriously, this son of mine gets shy at the drop of a hat now. He’s nothing like the thick–skinned guy he used to be,‘ Eliza thought to herself.
Seeing Joshua standing there for so long by the door, Xylia couldn’t help but urge him.
“Joshua, why are you still standing there? Come on over!” she called out.
Joshua slowly changed his shoes, dragging his feet as he tried to calm himself down, then finally walked over to Xylia.
But after just a few steps, out of nowhere, a wave of dizziness washed over him.
He staggered, almost going down hard.
Seeing this, Xylia rushed over, clutching Nova, her face full of concern.
“What’s wrong?” Xylia asked.
Joshua shook his head, and the dizziness slowly faded away.
Meeting Xylia’s worried gaze, Joshua gave her a reassuring smile.
“Probably just low blood sugar. I’m fine,” he said.
Eliza walked over, giving Joshua a worried look.
“How come you suddenly have low blood sugar? You never had that issue before. Are you just worn out from work lately? 1 told
your dad he shouldn’t pile all the work on you when you’re just starting at the company. I’m going to have a word with him right now!” Eliza declared.

Eliza was always straight to the point.
She said she was going to give Aaron a piece of her mind, and without another word, she headed straight upstairs to his study.
Since you’re just getting better, Xylia said, “Tomorrow, I’m coming with you to the hospital. Let’s get a full check–up, just to be sure.”
Joshua tried to reassure her.
‘Come on, it’s not a big deal. I’m fine,” he said.
Xylia’s expression turned firm. “This time, you’re doing what I say.”
His health was what really mattered.
Xylia didn’t want Joshua getting hurt again–not even a little.
Joshua couldn’t say no to her, so he just nodded and agreed.
He took Nova from her arms, gazing down at her chubby little face, and his heart warmed with every beat.
‘Next week is Nova’s hundred–day party. The guest list is all set, and it’s about time to send out the invites,” Xylia said.
Xylia stood beside Joshua, playfully entertaining the baby in his arms with a bright smile.
Nova, all soft and squishy, was nestled in Joshua’s arms, her big, grape–like eyes darting around. When Xylia teased her, she et out a giggle so cute Xylia could barely handle it.
The invites are out. My brothers said they’ll come two days early, so I was thinking of having them stay here with us. Is that cool with you?” Xylia asked, glancing at Joshua.
She looked at him expectantly,
Joshua replied calmly, “You’re the boss around here. Whatever you decide, you don’t need my permission.”
‘Come on, that’s not how it works,” Xylia shot back. “We’re a team, you know? It’s not right for just one of us to call all the shots. Big stuff, little stuff–we should always talk it out. And if you’ve got something going on, you better let me know too.”
Joshua was pretty sure Xylia was still giving him a subtle warning about that time he secretly went to see Noelle.
He kept his eyes down, playing the part of the good guy, and just nodded along.
Seeing Joshua act all well–behaved, Xylia’s lips curled into a smile.
The next day.
Aaron headed off to the office under Eliza’s watchful eye and gentle urging.
