Chapter 371
Chapter 371
Joshua gave her a look, totally speechless, and gently moved her hand away.
“What’s so wrong with calling you my wife? It’s not like it’ll kill me, right?”
“No, it won’t,” Xylia said, lowering her head and cupping his face, enunciating every word.
“But I do find it weird, so you’d better give me a good reason.”
Xylia leaned in so close that Joshua only had to lift his eyes to meet her stunning face.
He could smell her sweet fragrance every time he breathed in.
Joshua’s face turned red, and he quickly looked away.
“Come on, we’re married, aren’t we? What’s so weird about it?” he mumbled.
Xylia was so close, she could hear every word Joshua muttered.
She chuckled softly and slowly let go of his face.
“Yeah, I guess it really isn’t that weird,” Xylia said with a shrug.
Xylia straightened up, obviously done with the topic.
Outside, dusk was creeping in.
Heavy clouds hung low, wrapping Jupiton in a blanket of gloom.
“Rain’s coming,” Xylia said, peering out the window.
Xylia glanced out the window, then at her phone.
“It’s already five? How did I end up sleeping this long?” she muttered.
Looks like she really dropped the whole name thing.
Joshua quietly breathed a sigh of relief, but his heart still felt packed with cotton, leaving him strangely uneasy.
‘Why’d she just drop it like that?‘ Joshua thought, feeling a little unsettled.
Xylia turned to Joshua. “Are you staying late at work tonight?”
If Joshua had something going on this evening, she’d just head home now.
She’d been glued to their daughter every day lately, and after just one afternoon apart, she already missed her.
Joshua caught on to what Xylia was getting at and thought about his crazy schedule for a second.
‘No overtime tonight,” he said casually.

Xylia’s eyes lit up. “Awesome, then I’ll just hang around and wait for you to finish up. Looks like it’s gonna rain tonight, so let’s not get caught out there–better head home early.”

Joshua thought for a moment. “Let’s swing by the supermarket later.”
Xylia looked at him, puzzled.
“What do you need from the supermarket?” she asked.
Joshua didn’t really need anything.
He just wanted to spend more time alone with her.

Isn’t it all over the internet that couples who do stuff together–whether it’s chores or shopping–end up getting closer?
Just thinking about wandering the supermarket with Xylia, he couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement.
“Alright, might as well see if there’s anything for Nina,” Xylia said.
Joshua nodded.
Xylia didn’t disturb him while he worked. She picked out a book from his bookshelf at random, settled in on the couch, and started reading.
Soon enough, it was time for him to finish work.
Xylia ended up dozing off on the couch.
She was completely wiped out.
Once Joshua wrapped up his work, he took Xylia out of the office, leaving the rest for David to take care of.
Joshua took Xylia to the nearest supermarket.
Xylia bossed Joshua into pushing the cart while she made a beeline for the baby section.
She picked out cute little outfits, toys, and some fancy baby food.
She picked up a bit of everything, and before long, the cart was packed to the brim.
Joshua looked at the pile of baby products, a bit taken aback,
But he kept quiet, just pushed the cart and followed his wife through the supermarket,
Next, Xylia went over to the toiletries aisle, picked up some practical items, and then made her way to the fruit section.
The fruit at the supermarket was super fresh, and since Xylia loved fruit, she packed the cart full again.
‘Doesn’t your place already have fruit delivered every day?” Joshua finally blurted out.
He just couldn’t hold back his curiosity anymore.
“That’s totally different! Fruit tastes way better when you buy it yourself. It’s all about the sense of accomplishment,” Kylia replied with a grin.
Joshua knew it was pure nonsense, but coming from Xylia, he didn’t have the guts to argue back.
So he just resigned himself to being her designated cart pusher.

Chapter 371
This supermarket run felt just like they’d been married forever, just doing their usual stroll together.

Xylia was busy picking out stuff, while Joshua was zoned out behind her, pushing the cart like a robot and barely keeping his
eyes open.
Xylia found it kind of odd.
“Didn’t you get any sleep this afternoon? I thought after you carried me to the break room for a nap, you’d catch some rest too,” she said.
“I did, but it just wasn’t enough,” Joshua replied.
Xylia caught the tired look on his face, and a thought crossed her mind. She tried to comfort him.
“Has Nina been fussing at night and keeping you awake? Is that why you’re so tired lately?” she asked.
The more she thought about it, the more she started to worry that might really be the case.
“Tell you what, tonight I’ll take Nina to the guest room. Once she’s used to sleeping through the night, we’ll move her back in with us,” she offered.
“No way!” Joshua immediately and firmly refused as soon as Xylia finished speaking.
“We’re married–no way we’re sleeping apart. If Nina’s too noisy, I’ll just get a nanny to handle her,” he said.
That’d make things a lot easier for Xylia.
After all, she was going to be a stay–at–home wife.
The nanny would look after Nina and take care of all their meals.
Xylia wouldn’t miss out on watching Nina grow up.
So she nodded and agreed.
A faint smile played on Joshua’s lips–everything was falling right into place.
By the time they stepped out of the supermarket, a downpour was already in full swing.
The rain came down like someone had dumped a bucket from the sky–thick and heavy.
Joshua glanced out.
All kinds of people were huddled under the curtain of rain.
Some were caught without umbrellas, while others were waiting for cabs.
People were packed in like sardines.
A jagged flash of lightning split the sky, followed by crackling thunder rolling overhead. The rain was coming down in sheets now, heavier by the second.
Xylia could only shake her head in defeat at the weather.
With rain like this, even if you had an umbrella, you’d be drenched from the knees down in just a few steps.

Chapter 371
Xylia wasn’t about to dive into that chaos.
She was just about to call Joshua to head out together.
Joshua stood there like he was frozen, completely still, not moving an inch.
His gaze was distant, as if he wanted to imprint the whole scene in his mind.
After a long moment, Joshua finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Why does this feel so familiar?” he murmured.

He could almost see himself behind the wheel, rain pounding on the windshield, with someone sitting right beside him.
A girl was there, her mood at rock bottom.
It was Xylia.
Joshua pulled out every trick in the book to make her smile.
But no matter what he did, it was all in vain.
And all the while, he couldn’t shake the feeling–like there were eyes on them, hidden somewhere in the dark.
“Is this… some kind of memory?” Joshua murmured.
If it really was a memory, he wanted to get to the bottom of it right now.
He turned to Xylia and shared his realization with her.
Xylia was taken aback at first, then looked at him in surprise.
“Aren’t you worried I’ll think you’re just making this up?” she asked.
Joshua smiled and reached out to gently touch her face.
“So what if I’m just making it up? Doesn’t bother me one bit,” he teased.
At last, after everything, Xylia saw that deep affection shining in Joshua’s eyes.
It was the same look she remembered from the Joshua she used to know.
When Joshua looked at Xylia, he could see a hint of wistfulness on her face.
He felt a faint pang of discomfort.
‘Is she missing the way I used to be?‘ Joshua thought.
