Chapter 375
The voice sounded childish, and oddly familiar.
Xylia turned to see Sonny standing there, hands on his hips, glaring at the woman in front of him.
Xylia had seen this woman before.
It was Sonny’s teacher, Chloe, from before.

Sonny used to really like this teacher, but now, judging by his look, his attitude toward her seemed totally different.
Xylia didn’t plan on staying.
But Sonny had already spotted her.
He rushed over and stopped right in front of Xylia.
“Mom, are you here to buy clothes?” Sonny called out.
The moment Sonny saw Xylia, his whole face lit up. He wasn’t impatient like he was with Chloe anymore; now he was just all
smiles.
Xylia looked down at Sonny, her eyes softening.
Something about this moment just hit her right in the feels.
She couldn’t bring herself to walk away right then.
She’d told Sonny a million times to stop calling her “Mom,” but he never changed how he called her.
And ever since Sonny apologized, he’d only gotten sweeter with her.
Even when Xylia gave him the cold shoulder, Sonny knew he’d been wrong, so even if she acted distant, he’d just keep calling her “Mom” with that sunny, cheerful grin.
No matter how tough Xylia tried to be, she just couldn’t bring herself to say anything harsh to a kid.
She just hummed in response and walked off with Josie.
Sonny didn’t take her half–hearted answer to heart at all.
Seeing Xylia walk away, he slung his little backpack over his shoulder and trailed after her.
He started repeating something he must’ve picked up somewhere.
“Mom, girls need guys to carry their bags when they go shopping, right? Let me carry yours for you!” Sonny piped up, trying to sound all grown–up.
With that, he reached out to take Xylia’s bag.
But Xylia dodged his hand.
“I don’t need you to carry my bag. I’ve got stuff to do, so stop following me,” she said, her tone firm.

Sonny didn’t get all sulky like he used to when Xylia shut him down. Instead, he just stuck to her like glue, totally shameless.
Since he couldn’t carry her bag, he just kept babbling nonstop right by her side.
“Mom, are you shopping for clothes? Do you have enough money? I do! Grandma gave me loads of allowance. Let me buy stuff for you! Makeup, clothes, whatever you want–I’ll pay for everything!” Sonny declared, thumping his chest like a little hero.
He thumped his chest proudly, acting all grown–up.
Josie, watching from the side, had to stifle a giggle.
Xylia looked down, a hint of helplessness flickering in her eyes.
She glanced back at Chloe, who was trailing not far behind.
“Chloe, could you please take him back?” Xylia said, her tone polite but firm.
Chloe’s face fell.
Sonny’s little brows knitted together, and he pouted, clearly unhappy.
“She’s not my teacher anymore. The day she talked smack about you, I had Dad let her go,” Sonny said, all serious and self- righteous.
He stood tall, hands shoved in his pockets, looking like a little hero on a mission.
Chloe’s face flushed with embarrassment at his words.
She needed to stay with the Ford family, so when she heard Sonny would be out shopping today, she did everything she could to get on his good side.
But she tried every trick in the book to cheer him up, and Sonny just wasn’t having it.
But as soon as Xylia–the so–called irresponsible mom–showed up, Sonny’s eyes were glued to her and he forgot about everyone else.
Seriously, is this damn blood bond really that powerful?‘ Chloe grumbled to herself.
Trying to hold back her resentment, Chloe stepped up to Xylia.
“Ms. Sadler, I want to formally apologize for what I said about you last time. It was all a misunderstanding, Chloe said, sounding genuinely sincere.
She looked genuinely apologetic.
Xylia caught the hint of sarcasm in Chloe’s eyes when she glanced down.
Still, Xylia couldn’t care less.
She just gave a slight nod and then looked down at Sonny
“Who brought you out?‘ she asked.
“The housekeeper! Sonny blurted out, his face lighting up.

Sonny couldn’t hide his excitement when Xylia finally talked to him.
He answered her loudly and eagerly, almost shouting.
Xylia nodded, then asked, “So where’s the housekeeper?”
Sonny just pouted, staying silent.
When Xylia asked again, Sonny’s eyes started to well up.
“Mom, if we find the housekeeper, are you just gonna kick me out again?” Sonny whimpered.
His eyes welled up, ready to spill over any second.
Xylia just looked at him, totally speechless.
After all these years as his mom, she could spot his little act from a mile away.

“You wanna go find her yourself, or should I come with you? Pick one,” Xylia said, her voice firm but not harsh.
Sonny’s eyes sparkled with surprise and joy at her words.
Once he realized he could actually choose to go with his mom, Sonny could hardly contain his happiness.
He was absolutely thrilled.
“I want you to take me, Mom!” he shouted, grinning from ear to ear.
He immediately reached for Xylia’s hand.
Xylia dodged his hand.
Xylia glanced over at Josie.
“Josie, I’ll take him to look for the housekeeper. You go ahead and shop around,” Xylia said.
Josie nodded, showing she understood.
Chloe, watching from the sidelines, couldn’t help but feel bad for Sonny.
Even though she wasn’t Sonny’s teacher anymore, seeing how much he stuck to his mom while she kept pushing him away. Chloe just couldn’t help but feel bad for the kid.
Honestly, it was kinda heartbreaking to watch.
Chloe couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What’s so special about Xylia that both Sonny and his dad are still hung up on her?
Xylia gave Chloe a slight nod, then took Sonny and walked off.
Sonny was so happy his mom was with him, he didn’t even give Chloe a second thought.
Seeing this, Chloe could only slink away, feeling totally defeated.
As Sonny walked alongside Xylia, he kept glancing up at his mom every now and then
Noticing the little boy’s gaze, Xylia spoke softly.
