The museum was bustling with people.
Sebastian headed downstairs the moment the transaction was completed.
Raelynn chased after him without a second thought.
"Sebastian, wait."
Walking quickly in her heels, she barely managed to keep up with his long strides.
He turned around at the bottom of the stairs.
His car had already pulled up in front of him, and Assistant Quinn stepped out to open the door.
Raelynn didn't see Seraphina around, and she didn't care anyway. She stared intensely into the man's deep eyes. "That antique belongs to the Ortiz family. It was my grandmother's heirloom."
"Yes, and?"
Sebastian's expression didn't ripple in the slightest.
She could tell he genuinely didn't see any issue with giving her grandmother's heirloom to Seraphina.
His utter sense of entitlement felt like a physical blow to Raelynn's chest.
She had the overwhelming urge to scream and fight him right there, but the icy indifference in his eyes served as a sharp blade, bringing her back to reality.
"You can give her anything else. You could give her the moon and the stars for all I care, but I cannot accept you giving away my family's heirloom." She took a deep breath, trying to soften her tone. "Sebastian, I've never asked you for anything. Just this once..."
Trying to force Sebastian's hand was clearly irrational.
In front of a man who didn't love her, throwing a tantrum or making threats would never get her anywhere.
Sebastian rarely saw this side of her, either.
Her hands hung at her sides, gripped by a suffocating wave of tension as she struggled to maintain her composure.
It was a habit she only displayed when she was nervous or highly emotional.
He simply watched her expression, his tone leisurely. "You have to ask Seraphina about that. The gift has already been given; it belongs to her now."
Raelynn's energy instantly drained away.
A freezing wave of dread washed over her.
Chilling her to the bone.
He meant she had to go beg Seraphina?
She had to beg the other woman for her own family's heirloom?
Actually, Sebastian had taught her another cruel lesson today.
She was expected to quietly step aside and hand her husband over to Seraphina.
The family heirloom was just an object; how could she possibly win that battle when she had already lost everything else?
She felt a headache coming on and gave Preston an apologetic look. "I want to go back. I don't think I can make it to the networking event today."
Preston frowned. "It's not that important anyway. I'll take you home."
He turned his head to look at Luke, who was standing nearby. "Mr. Sterling, let's catch up another day."
Luke caught Raelynn in his peripheral vision and gave a curt nod.
The two of them got into the car and left.
Only then did a complicated expression settle on Luke's face.
He hadn't expected Raelynn to be so obsessed with Sebastian. She had been rejected, yet she still went running after him, only to be caught red-handed by his actual girlfriend, Seraphina.
If he hadn't been mistaken just now, had Raelynn actually glared at Seraphina?
How could a home-wrecker act so self-righteous?
