She turned around to look.
Seraphina was leaning over, admiring the charm, smiling brightly as she turned back to the man beside her.
A faint smile touched Sebastian's lips. He cast a sideways glance at Luke, who was standing in front of Raelynn. "Mr. Sterling, would you be willing to part with it?"
His eager readiness to fulfill her every desire practically stung Raelynn's eyes.
A sharp pang of despair hit Raelynn. She immediately turned to Luke. "Can you sell it to me? I'll pay any price."
Hearing this, the smile on Seraphina's face faded inch by inch.
"Ms. Ortiz, do you have to fight me for absolutely everything?"
That single sentence.
It made Luke frown.
Combining it with what he had seen earlier, he instantly understood Raelynn's current intentions.
She was only trying to snatch it because she saw Seraphina wanted it.
One minute she was trying to steal the woman's boyfriend, and the next she was blatantly trying to snatch something the woman liked. It was far too arrogant.
Raelynn stared at Seraphina blankly. "Fight you for it? Did taking one look at it magically write your name on it?"
Did Seraphina really forget about this Rosewood Padlock Charm?
She had snatched it from Raelynn's neck over a decade ago, and now she was playing the victim!
Seraphina looked Raelynn up and down, a slow smile spreading across her face. "Ms. Ortiz, why be so aggressive? I believe I've been nothing but polite to you. There's no need for you to be so hostile."
Raelynn was incredibly sick of Seraphina's ability to effortlessly paint herself as the innocent victim.
Even when it wasn't Raelynn's fault, it somehow became her problem.
"Mr. Sterling, you can name your price." Raelynn didn't want to fall into the trap of having to justify herself, so she pinned her hopes entirely on Luke.
Luke looked at Seraphina.
Meeting his gaze at the perfect moment, Seraphina offered a helpless smile. "It's fine, Mr. Sterling. I can step back."
"If you like it, you don't have to step back for anyone."
A low, calm voice drifted smoothly into their ears.
A freezing wave of dread washed over Raelynn's spine, tight as a serpent coiling around her neck.
