So it really was a premeditated attack.
Quentin's brow furrowed. "I assume you found more than just that, Mr. Croix."
Despite his belief in Sylvia's innocence, he needed the whole truth.
Dr. Hayes turned her sharp gaze to Sebastian, waiting for his response.
"I did." Ignoring the palpable tension in the room, Sebastian slid a second manila folder across the table. "NexusMind's corporate fleet is parked in assigned spots. Anyone with malicious intent and basic access would have plenty of opportunities to tamper with the cars. The perpetrator was careful to avoid the cameras, but after a rigorous sweep of the area, we identified a highly suspicious individual. However, this suspect..."
He paused, letting his gaze drift deliberately across the room until it landed on Quentin and the trembling Sylvia by his side. "...is a wanted fugitive with a bounty on his head from the Seaport City police. He recently managed to slip into Kingsford, relying on some unknown network of contacts."
His revelation sucked the remaining air right out of the room.
A suffocating silence fell.

Even though she had given up trying to defend herself, sheer disbelief washed over Sylvia's face.
The sheer weight of this new evidence amplified her guilt to a level that was impossible to ignore.

The blame had been squarely on Raelynn just moments ago. How had it suddenly boomeranged back onto her?
Dr. Hayes's expression grew even darker.
When coincidences started piling up like this, they ceased to be coincidences at all.
Blanche leaped to her feet once more, her voice razor-sharp. "See?! It all leads straight back to Sylvia! You hired some ruthless thug from Seaport City to do your dirty work. What the hell did Sera ever do to you?!"
Once the lingering terror of the assassination attempt faded, a wave of immense relief washed over Seraphina.
