Seeing Seraphina's arrival, the Kingsford team immediately perked up and greeted her warmly. "It's totally fine, Seraphina. We should be thanking your boyfriend for sponsoring this trip."
"Yeah, without you, we never would have gotten such a massive bonus."
"You're basically our boss's wife now," someone chimed in, half-flattering, half-sincere.
Wasn't it the truth?
Mr. Croix was sponsoring them for Seraphina's sake. He was their ultimate boss and benefactor, making Seraphina more than worthy of the title "boss's wife"!
Seraphina covered her mouth and chuckled softly, unable to hide the delight in her eyes.
"Oh, stop it. You're all being too polite."
Leaning back in her chair, Raelynn watched this widely celebrated extramarital affair unfold like an outsider.
Her gaze drifted casually to Sebastian, who stood beside Seraphina, the very image of a protective, devoted partner.
A faint smile touched the man's lips.
He didn't deny the title of "boss's wife."
When he devoted himself entirely to a woman, he was striking and utterly captivating.
Seven years of being Mrs. Croix, and she was treated like a ghost.
Her cramps flared up with a vengeance, the pain radiating through her entire body.
The sharp ache forced her mind to stay brutally clear.
Raelynn lowered her eyes, hiding the flash of mockery within them.
"What were you all talking about just now? You sounded so animated." Acting as if she hadn't even noticed Raelynn, Seraphina sat down across from her with Sebastian, asking the room with a bright smile.
Just like that.
The spotlight swung right back onto Raelynn.
A few people from Kingsford smirked.
With loaded tones, they said, "You don't know, Seraphina. Ms. Ortiz apparently had a wild night with a hookup yesterday. But word has it the man is actually her husband. We were just asking her who this mysterious husband is."
"Yeah. Since he's here, why not bring him out to meet us? Or we could all grab dinner. The more, the merrier."
As the words landed.
Raelynn instantly felt the cool, detached gaze of the man sitting directly across from her.
She didn't look at him.
She wasn't the one who exposed the secret anyway.
He was the one who mistook her for someone else and decided to show off his affection while she was on the phone.
The smile on Seraphina's lips vanished inch by inch.
A flash of anger crossed her eyes.
She hadn't expected Raelynn to broadcast this everywhere. Didn't she know that she and Sebastian were publicly recognized as the perfect couple now?
Was Raelynn really trying to destroy them?
"This is Ms. Ortiz's private life. We shouldn't pry," Seraphina frowned in silence, offering up a hypocritical defense.
That absolute composure was like an ice pick, warning her to know her place.
Raelynn glanced at her own empty teacup and nodded slowly. "You're overthinking it, Ms. Vance. I don't consider my husband or my family a secret, nor is it something to be ashamed of. We can certainly talk about it."
With a single sentence, Seraphina's expression cracked for a split second.
Her lips pressed into a hard line as she glared coldly at Raelynn.
She didn't believe Raelynn would dare expose the truth in front of everyone!
Offending Sebastian like that? Was Raelynn out of her mind?
This time.
Raelynn finally caught Sebastian's gaze shifting toward her.
She sighed internally.
Sure enough, the moment Seraphina's reputation, image, or mood was threatened, he actually reacted.
If she called him her husband right now.
Wouldn't the room explode?
"Mr. Croix, I heard you were staying on the same floor as Raelynn last night. Do you happen to know who her husband is?"
Suddenly.
Preston, who had stayed out of it, spoke up with a casual drawl.
His words instantly shifted the entire room's focus off Raelynn and squarely onto the silent Sebastian.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
