A sharp ringing echoed in Raelynn's ears.
She almost thought she had misheard him.
"Her dowry?" she asked, her voice dropping to a terrifying chill.
Silas saw the murderous fury brewing in her eyes. He frowned, taking on a tone of righteous disappointment. "What kind of reaction is this? It's just a shop. You and Seraphina are sisters. Why are you being so petty?"
Raelynn's lips tightened into a thin, white line.
"Sisters? You're perfectly happy playing the cuckold and raising another man's spawn, but don't expect me to claim her as family."
She didn't even care if Seraphina actually married Sebastian.
What made her blood boil was the fact that they dared to target The Ortiz Antique Shop—her mother's legacy—to use as a stepping stone to elevate Seraphina's status!
Silas hadn't expected Raelynn to be so fiercely unreasonable. His face darkened. "Raelynn, when did you become so bitter and toxic? Are you trying to end up like your mother, rotting in a coma? Isn't family harmony more important than anything? It's not like I'm asking for the moon and the stars!"
Without waiting for her reply, he waved his hand.
Blanche hurried out from a nearby patient room, unable to hide the gleeful smirk on her face. She handed Silas a legal document.
Silas shoved it toward Raelynn. "This is the transfer contract. Back then, your mother put half the shop's shares in your name. Since you were a minor, I managed it on your behalf. I've taken care of it all these years, and you've never even lifted a finger to help. Sign this, and you can wash your hands of it completely."
If it weren't for the fact that Raelynn legally owned half, he wouldn't need her signature at all.
Raelynn's mother had been entirely too calculating, planning for Raelynn's future far too early.
Listening to this beautifully spun garbage...
Looking at Silas's utterly hypocritical, self-righteous face...
It was repulsive!
Her eyes dripped with venom as her hands shook at her sides. "You want to use my family's legacy as a stepping stone for Seraphina? In your dreams!"
Silas had stolen the antique shop from her mother through shady, illegal tactics to begin with.
Did he really think stealing it made him the rightful owner?
The shop was generations of the Ortiz family's blood, sweat, and tears. And now Silas wanted to use it to appease his mistress and her bastard daughter? It was the ultimate humiliation. A complete desecration of the Ortiz name.
"Do you have any idea what's good for you? You intentionally injured Seraphina! We're willing to sweep it under the rug, but you have to sign this to buy your peace. We are giving you an out, take it!" Blanche snapped, glaring at her.
Most of the priceless artifacts in the shop were legally tied to the business entity.
If it weren't for Raelynn's shares, they would have liquidated it years ago.
Silas exchanged a look with Blanche, playing the good cop. "Raelynn, your grandfather doesn't have much time left. I am your only family and your only support system. If your maiden family thrives, it benefits you too. If you support your sister now, you'll be rewarded later. Be a good girl."
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Raelynn was sick to her stomach looking at them. Her voice was ice. "Did I ever say I claimed you as a father?"
Silas's face warped with rage.
"Are you truly going to be this ungrateful and unfilial?!"
"When you drop dead, I'll gladly shovel the dirt onto your grave. Will that satisfy you?"
Silas's chest heaved violently.
