Raelynn remembered Ian mentioning it in passing.
She pulled out her phone and opened his messages. He had posted a location tag on his Social Feed two days ago near the Port of Houston, seemingly negotiating a partnership.
He probably hadn't returned to Kingsford yet.
Still, it wasn't her place to reach out. She didn't want him to feel obligated to host her and add to his busy schedule.
Putting her phone away, Raelynn unpacked the DSLR camera she had brought specifically for the trip.
There were plenty of beautiful sights here, and she wanted to capture photos and videos to show Lily when she got back.
Preston's call came through shortly after. "I texted you the restaurant details. It's going to be lively tonight. I heard there's a live performance. I came early to get things set up, so just head over around seven."
Raelynn agreed. "Sounds good. I'll take the tram over."
After hanging up, she changed her outfit, grabbed her camera, and headed out.
Sebastian had been MIA for the past two days.
Raelynn didn't know the exact details of the Croix family drama, but she had been mulling over one possibility. If Cameron really was out and entangled with Seraphina again, would Matilda finally loosen her grip on the divorce certificate?
Raelynn harbored a sliver of hope.
Settling into her seat on the tram, she decided to call Sebastian.
The sooner she got the paperwork back, the better.
The line rang.
It went through, but Sebastian didn't pick up.
It was entirely expected.
He had never prioritized her affairs.
Raelynn rubbed her temples and let it go.
Arriving at the restaurant Preston had booked, Raelynn took the elevator straight to the rooftop terrace.
The venue was decorated with an incredibly romantic flair.
Raelynn couldn't resist snapping a few photos.
She picked two of the best shots and posted them on her Social Feed.
Just as she hit upload and turned to find her table, a sweet, feminine voice drifted from nearby. "Sebastian, I booked the table with the best view. I think you'll love it."
Raelynn froze in her tracks.
She turned toward the sound.
Two people stepped off the elevator.
They brushed right past her. Neither noticed her.
Seraphina looked ecstatic, intentionally pressing close to the man beside her as they walked together toward the dining area.
Raelynn certainly hadn't expected this. No wonder Sebastian hadn't been home for the past two days.
He had brought Seraphina here for a vacation.
Was it to hide from Cameron, or just a private romantic getaway?
What exactly had happened between them that night?
How had Sebastian found his release?
The answer was glaringly obvious.
With her, at least they were...
Legally Lily's father and biologically her mother? A makeshift patchwork family?
Raelynn almost laughed out loud at the inappropriate thought.
Stifling her amusement, she didn't argue.
She focused on lifting her camera to capture the city skyline at night.
Ian trailed behind her at a leisurely pace, exuding a quiet patience. True to his word, his steady presence was entirely unobtrusive.
Raelynn almost forgot he was there.
Midway through, Ian received a phone call.
He stepped away to answer it.
Raelynn continued wandering and taking photos.
Until a wave of gasps erupted ahead.
Many of the foreign diners in the restaurant were looking in the same direction with delighted expressions.
Assuming it was part of the live performance, Raelynn wove through the crowd to see what was happening.
When she got closer, she realized what it was.
The restaurant staff were presenting a massive bouquet of roses to a specific table.
A stunning couple always drew attention.
Seraphina held the flowers, beaming at Sebastian sitting across from her. "Thank you for coming all this way to celebrate my birthday, Sebastian."
