Raelynn thought she had misheard him.
Her expression froze for a moment, a sharp pang twisting in her chest. She looked up in disbelief. "Are you out of your mind?"
In that moment, she wanted to rip Sebastian's chest open just to see if he even had a heart beating inside.
He knew exactly what the Vances had done to her!
Sebastian didn't answer. He leaned down to look at the little girl, his voice gentle. "They're handing out cupcakes over there. Why don't you go grab one?"
The little girl's eyes lit up instantly. She waved at Raelynn and skipped away.
Only then did Sebastian straighten up. His gaze met Raelynn's, taking in the raw hatred swirling in her eyes. It was as if every shred of affection from their years of marriage had been utterly pulverized.
He remained silent for a beat before a faint, indifferent smile touched his lips. "You know as well as I do that all these rumors circulating lately aren't doing anyone any favors. It's just one sentence. It shouldn't be that hard."
"What do I care if she lives or dies?" Raelynn sneered. To say she wasn't furious would be a lie.
To protect Seraphina's glowing reputation, Sebastian was truly willing to do anything.
Even if it meant killing Raelynn!
Wasn't this just forcing the victim to clear the home-wrecker's name?
Sebastian didn't seem to mind her hostility. His voice remained steady, devoid of any harshness. "This won't hurt you. The paperwork for The Winslow Antique Shop will be finalized by next month at the latest. If this gets resolved smoothly before then, it's a win-win, isn't it?"
A chill ran down Raelynn's spine.
She stared at him in disbelief.
He was using her family's antique shop as leverage?
When they signed the agreement, it explicitly stated the shop would be transferred to her in a year, provided she didn't remarry or leak the news of their divorce. Now, he was turning it into a bargaining chip!
"Sebastian?"
Right on cue, Seraphina walked over.
Her arrival abruptly shattered the tense, explosive atmosphere between them.
Or rather, it interrupted Raelynn's one-sided fury.
Raelynn had no desire to waste another second on this toxic pair. Having said her piece, she spun on her heel and walked away.
Sticking around them would only shave years off her life!
Though Seraphina was angry, she quickly rationalized it. Raelynn was pure trash, destined to amount to nothing. Besides, what man would ever want a woman so extreme and uncompromising?
Earlier today, Sebastian had denied their relationship for the sake of appeasing Dr. Moreno. She pressed her lips together and looked up at him. "Sebastian, you're still going to have dinner with my family, right?"
Sebastian looked down, his handsome, chiseled features betraying nothing. "I'll make the time."
A sweet smile instantly bloomed across Seraphina's face.
No matter what happened, their bond was unbreakable by outside forces!
Raelynn's little schemes would always fall flat.

That evening, Raelynn met up with Chloe, who had finally finished a grueling day of work.
