Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 380

Seraphina washed her hands, an undeniable smirk playing on her lips as she turned to leave. The radiant smugness in her expression was impossible to hide. It felt like a physical blade twisting in Raelynn's chest, leaving a dull ache in its wake. The other woman walked away so briskly that Raelynn didn't even get a chance to fire back a retort. A breathy scoff escaped Raelynn's lips. The sheer audacity of it all actually made her laugh. Some people were truly shameless enough to dress up their toxic actions in pretty words, wrapping their deceit in the noble guise of true love. When Raelynn walked out, she saw Seraphina heading straight for Sebastian's side, acting as if she had every right in the world to be there. Preston walked over, noticing the heavy look on Raelynn's face. "Is everything okay?" Raelynn tore her gaze away and pressed her lips together. "Nothing. Just a rabid dog that wouldn't stop barking." The worst kind of psycho was the one who kept hunting you down even when you tried to ignore them. Preston immediately glanced over at Seraphina. "Her?" "What's next on the schedule?" Raelynn asked, entirely unwilling to waste another second of her time or energy discussing Seraphina Vance. Preston took the hint. "There's a networking dinner shortly. The university board wants to have a formal sit-down with you to discuss the details of your upcoming position." Raelynn was currently the name on everyone's lips, and the university administration was taking her very seriously. Raelynn lightly scratched the bridge of her nose. "Oh. Do I really have to go to this dinner?" Preston playfully nudged her shoulder. "I'm going to be there too, what are you so afraid of? It's just a formal introduction to your future colleagues. Since your paperwork hasn't fully cleared yet, we aren't announcing your identity publicly, but an official private meeting is crucial." He shook his head with a fond smile. Despite her brilliance, she still had moments where she acted like a nervous kid, lacking the confidence for high-profile schmoozing. From a distance, Julian watched the exchange with sharp eyes. The dynamic between Preston and Raelynn was incredibly relaxed. He could tell that she trusted Preston implicitly, even letting her guard down enough to show a rare, almost vulnerable side. To an outsider, Preston looked exactly like an overprotective older brother. But there was no denying that Raelynn had an undeniable magnetism when it came to men. The realization caused Julian's brow to furrow slightly. He couldn't quite put a name to the sudden twist of emotion in his chest. "Julian? What are you looking at?" Seraphina asked, walking up to him with a mask of polite concern. Julian snapped out of his thoughts. "Nothing." Seraphina offered a tight smile. "Is that so?" She wasn't blind. She had seen exactly where Julian's attention was fixed, and his intense focus on Raelynn made her own smile falter. Leo sauntered over and slung an arm comfortably over Julian's shoulder. "Sera secured a massive client today, ready to back our product launch. Everything went perfectly. She even had a great chat with Dr. Adrian Moreno, and practically everyone saw it." Seraphina had intentionally sought out Adrian during the group photos, ensuring they were captured looking like they were deep in a pleasant conversation. When the time came, that single photograph would be a massive boost to her credibility. "Did Director Moreno explicitly say he was taking on students?" Julian asked. Seraphina smiled confidently. "It all comes down to the interview, but I highly doubt I'll have any issues." Leo chimed in to stroke her ego. "Come on, you were a top student at Kingsford, plus you have a stellar background studying abroad. Your overall resume is flawless. There's zero reason for Director Moreno to pass you over. It's basically a done deal." As he spoke, Leo cast a disdainful look across the room, watching Raelynn and Preston walk toward two of Kingsford's most prestigious professors. "By the time you're working directly under Director Moreno on elite medical research, Raelynn's little fifteen minutes of fame will be over. The only reason she's even meeting those professors today is because she's riding Preston's coattails. After today, if she wants to step foot on this campus again, she'll have to wait in line for a visitor's pass just like everyone else." Raelynn had just gotten lucky. She had jumped ship to a good company and found a guy like Preston willing to parade her around to high society.
