Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 428

Raelynn's attention was immediately pulled away.

Theon was tall and handsome, his features strikingly gentle beneath a pair of rimless glasses.

He wore a perfectly tailored suit, and a warm smile played on his lips as he approached.

Raelynn snapped out of her daze and nodded. "Hello, Mr. Tanner."

Julian watched the exchange with total bewilderment, frowning silently.

Of course, he knew who Theon was. The second son of the Tanner family, heavily favored by his elders. He had moved abroad as a child and spent most of his life studying there. He had likely just returned to the country.

Julian didn't know him well.

But they were acquainted through passing social circles.

Theon noticed Julian and offered a friendly handshake. "Julian, it's been a while. Thank you for coming out to support the event tonight."

Julian couldn't help but steal a sideways glance at Raelynn.

As he shook the man's hand. "How do you two know each other?"

He couldn't fathom how these two were connected.

Logically, Raelynn had no business knowing Theon Tanner.

"Ms. Ortiz and I are on a blind date tonight. Just getting to know each other," Theon answered without a hint of secrecy.

Julian froze, staring at Raelynn's perfectly calm face in absolute disbelief.

"A blind date?!" He practically thought he was hallucinating.

Raelynn despised Julian's incredulous, disapproving reaction, as if she were legally obligated to pine after Sebastian forever.

Ignoring him completely, she turned to Theon. "Shall we go somewhere a bit more private?"

Theon readily agreed, gesturing for her to lead the way.

Raelynn walked off without a backward glance.

Julian opened his mouth to say something.

But she didn't give him the chance.

Watching her walk away, his expression turned grim. A blind date? Was finding a new husband really that urgent for her?

She had barely just filed for divorce. Her desperation was appalling.

"Julian? What are you staring at?" Seraphina strolled over after finishing her rounds of schmoozing, catching a glimpse of Raelynn's silhouette disappearing into the dim lighting.

Turning the night into a standard social obligation for him.

Sebastian easily detected the strange tension radiating off Julian.

But he merely shot his friend a fleeting glance.

And didn't pry.

Theon led Raelynn into a private dining room tucked away from the chaotic ballroom.

It was intimately lit by candlelight, featuring only a single table.

Theon pulled out a chair for her. "Please, have a seat."

Raelynn thanked him and sat down.

He was far more gentlemanly than she had anticipated, entirely lacking the obnoxious arrogance typical of old-money heirs.

Theon was highly conversational. He waved a waiter over to pour their wine.

He started talking. "I suppose I should give you some context on my end. My grandmother and Matilda Croix are practically lifelong best friends. Because they're so close, they went out of their way to set this up. I had seen your photos beforehand, which is why I recognized you immediately. You're stunning, Ms. Ortiz; I couldn't possibly mistake you for anyone else."
