They would resort to any means necessary to achieve their goals. If they truly knew of Lily's existence, there would inevitably be a bloodbath. She wouldn't gamble on luck.
Raelynn wanted to go see Lily tonight.
Ian drove Raelynn over to Professor Alistair Finch's residence.
As they were arriving, Ian finally spoke. "Willingness negates any talk of fairness. Don't forget, you're a professor at Kingsford University now. You'll be a massive help to the Hudson Family's medical projects in the second half of the year."
He didn't want Raelynn to feel indebted.
Raelynn understood his point and nodded.
Ian parked the car. "I'll fly to Canada in the next couple of days to get the paperwork. Wait for my news."
"Okay."
Raelynn got out of the car.
She watched Ian drive away.
Only then did she head inside.
Alistair looked surprised when he saw Raelynn arrive. "Why are you here at this hour?"
Raelynn said, "I plan to sleep here with Lily tonight."
Alistair was a bit taken aback.
Given Raelynn's previously ultra-cautious nature, she hadn't even dared to spend too much time with Lily. But now...
Raelynn didn't offer further explanation.
She quietly went to Lily's room.
Lily was very well-behaved and went to bed promptly at nine every night.
It was almost ten o'clock now.
Raelynn, afraid of disturbing the household, tiptoed to the side of the bed. Looking at Lily's sleeping face, she climbed onto the bed and gently stroked the little girl's soft cheek.
The dust was about to settle.
Lily woke up groggily at that moment.
Upon seeing Raelynn, she naturally hugged her. "Mama, I had a dream again."
She always dreamed of her mom sleeping next to her. Her mom had many difficulties and couldn't stay with her, so she always made up a little story about her mom before bed, hoping it would come true in her dreams.
Raelynn's eyes immediately stung with unshed tears.
