Seraphina frowned instinctively. She knew Sebastian would help her, just like he always did.
But right now, she didn't want to be the one begging.
She wanted Sebastian to step in and shield her from the disaster before she even had to ask.
Or, at the very least, call to check on her.
"I'll talk to Sebastian, but not right this second," Seraphina snapped, snatching her phone back from Blanche in sheer irritation.
"Why are you being so stubborn at a time like this?" Blanche's anxiety was skyrocketing.
Even Silas looked remarkably grim. "The entire family business is on the verge of collapse, Seraphina. This isn't the time to play romantic games. Be smart about this."
Seraphina pressed her lips into a thin line. "They leaked a live broadcast. You both knew the cameras were rolling, and you still couldn't watch what you said. And the director in charge? She's Raelynn's best friend. They teamed up to completely destroy us."
Silas's expression darkened.
Blanche hurried to play peacemaker. "Nobody wanted this to happen. Let's just throw some money at the media outlets to suppress the story. Get it taken down as fast as possible."
Silas let out a harsh laugh. "You think a little pocket change is going to fix this? Anyone with eyes can see Sebastian Croix's name tied up in this mess. It'll take millions to make this disappear! With investors pulling out and our stock plummeting, how much liquid cash do you think we actually have?"
They were completely boxed in!
Seraphina squeezed her eyes shut.
"They didn't explicitly say I tampered with anything, so it doesn't hold up as concrete proof. As long as Kingsford University doesn't find physical evidence, we can drag this out."
There were no security cameras in that specific lab.
No one could directly link her to the sabotage.
As for the live broadcast, all they had to do was vehemently deny the context.
Blanche's expression turned vicious. "Raelynn can't do anything to you anyway. Just look at her mother. She thought she was so smart, but we played her right into our hands. She wouldn't hand over the shop, and we took it anyway."
Silas's face changed drastically.
