As Sebastian's voice echoed in the room.
Seraphina finally recovered a fraction of her shattered sanity. Panic-stricken, she blindly reached out, her fingers desperately grabbing the fabric of his dress shirt, seeking an anchor in the storm.
This was a complete disaster.
Her mind had entirely short-circuited.
If she had known those integrated machines had a surveillance feature, she would never have chosen that moment to strike!
Besides.
The machines had just been delivered. Their advanced features were supposed to be discovered gradually as the staff got used to them.
How could this happen...
Sebastian lowered his eyes, glancing at Seraphina's hand, which was trembling violently with uncertainty.
Her instinctual panic was painfully obvious to everyone in the room. Her guilt was undeniable.
He didn't brush her off. Instead, he looked slowly back to the administrators. "Has the university reached a decision?"
Following Sebastian's prompt.
Chancellor Kirkwood spoke with heavy authority. "This behavior is abhorrent. For a student to maliciously frame a university professor is a severe violation. I am prepared to issue immediate disciplinary action: expulsion, revocation of her degree qualifications, and a public reprimand placed permanently on her academic record."
Seraphina's eyes blew wide open.
They were actually going to expel her...
Wouldn't that mean she was being ruthlessly thrown out just when she was one step away from the Academy of Sciences?
Sebastian said nothing.
He seemed fully aware that any attempt to argue would be entirely pointless.
The integrated machines had tracked the data. They could pull up exactly what keystrokes were made and when. The evidence was ironclad.
"Sebastian..." Seraphina's breathing turned ragged as she looked at him with desperate pleading. "It can't be like this. I can't be expelled. I still have so much to do."
She wanted him to fight for her, to push for a lighter sentence.
Raelynn remained completely still, watching Seraphina tightly clutching Sebastian's sleeve. She was wrinkling the expensive fabric, yet he showed no sign of impatience.
Sebastian didn't respond to Seraphina.
He slowly stood up. "Then proceed according to the university's regulations."
Seraphina froze.
Her heart plummeted straight into the floor.
But Raelynn silently pieced together the strategy.
