She hadn't expected to run into him here.
But on second thought, he was probably just here to pick up Seraphina.
The image of that pregnancy report flashed in her mind, and a wave of absolute nausea washed over her. Without a second thought, she shoved him hard in the chest.
The forceful push made Sebastian stagger back two steps.
He quickly stabilized his long legs, narrowing his eyes at her. "Did I do something to offend you?"
Raelynn couldn't be bothered to argue with him. What was she supposed to say? That the very thought of him made her physically sick?
If anything.
Today had been a stark reminder.
When she had been pregnant with Lily and tried to test his reaction, Sebastian had offered nothing but cold indifference. He hadn't wanted a child, didn't care, and acted like she didn't exist.
Yet when Seraphina got pregnant.
He personally escorted her to her doctor's appointments.
The glaring contrast only solidified the fact that the years she spent with him had been a complete and utter waste.
It was a total invalidation of her entire existence.
A mocking sneer curled her lips.
She wasn't going to waste her breath on this meaningless conversation; they had nothing to do with each other anymore anyway.
Giving no response, Raelynn simply walked past him and left.
Sebastian turned slightly, his gaze fixed on her retreating figure.
There was no hesitation in her steps, and the pure disgust in her eyes had been unmistakably clear.
He stood frozen in place for a long time.
Watching Raelynn get into her car and drive away.
His phone suddenly buzzed to life in his pocket.
Shaking himself from his stupor, Sebastian answered the call, only to hear Matilda's frantic voice on the other end. "Sebastian, get home right now."
Her tone was sharp with panic.
"Your grandfather just called. He's flying back in two days."
Sebastian didn't seem surprised. He took a step forward, leisurely descending the stairs. "Understood."
-
He phrased it delicately.
But Raelynn instantly caught his drift.
Barring any other disasters, it had to be Seraphina's pregnancy that had triggered the Patriarch's return.
Sebastian was his hand-picked heir, and if this scandalous, absurd mess blew up in the media, there was no way the old man would just sit back and watch.
Before she could type a reply, her phone buzzed again.
[Tristan]: My welcome banquet is tonight at The Rosewood Hotel. I'd really love to see you. Can you make it?
He smoothly changed the subject.
Raelynn let out a sigh of relief.
She mulled over the invitation for a moment.
Severing her marriage with Sebastian didn't mean she had to sever her friendship with Tristan. He had been a kind and steadfast friend to her over the years, and she couldn't just throw that away.
[Raelynn]: I'll be there.
It was obvious the Patriarch had already been briefed on the recent chaos within the family, though the news of the divorce clearly hadn't broken yet. Otherwise, Tristan would never have asked why she missed the family dinner.

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
The croix family is evil...
