Tristan showed absolutely no sign of backing down. He and Raelynn had been close since their teenage years, and everyone in the family knew how deep their bond ran.
But right now, with Raelynn's former husband sitting right there without uttering a word, Tristan's fierce, uncompromising defense of her made the situation incredibly awkward. The tension in the room was palpable.
Matilda clutched her chest. "Tristan, are you trying to give me a heart attack? Come here right now. Don't make me ask twice!"
"Grandma?" Tristan saw she was genuinely distressed and quickly went over to support her.
Forrest's expression remained set in stone. He gave a sharp, dismissive wave of his hand.
Two guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing Raelynn by both arms and forcing her to her knees. The elderly butler advanced, gripping the vicious whip.
Raelynn couldn't overpower them. Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs. She had seen the shredded flesh on Cameron's back; her fear was entirely primal. Desperate to avoid the blow, she instinctively looked back.
Sebastian was still sitting in his wheelchair, shrouded in the dim lighting of the hall, his face an unreadable mask.
Seeing what was about to happen, Tristan tried to lunge forward again, but Matilda gripped his arm with surprising strength.
"Sebastian!" Tristan shouted, desperation bleeding into his voice. "Help her! Please, I'm begging you!"
Hearing his own brother beg for his mercy over Raelynn's life caused not a single ripple in Sebastian's dark eyes. He remained completely silent.
Raelynn wasn't surprised. It was exactly what she expected. A bitter, self-deprecating smile touched her lips. He had never cared if she lived or died. Why would he step in now?
"Sebastian!" Even the usually easygoing Tristan was losing his mind with panic.
Still, nothing. No one in the room was surprised by Sebastian's apathy. They had all witnessed his blatant disregard for her over the years. No one expected him to suddenly play the hero.
Raelynn's last shred of hope vanished. The butler, experienced in meting out punishment, raised the whip high.

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
