Her grandfather's words filled Raelynn with an unbearable, aching sorrow.
She should have been letting him enjoy his twilight years in peace, but instead, he was still agonizing over her future, losing sleep over her safety.
But...
She wanted to scream.
Her grandfather had misjudged everything. She and Sebastian were already over, their relationship having imploded in the most humiliating way possible.
"Yes, your concerns are completely justified," Sebastian replied, agreeing with him.
Lowering his eyelashes, he said slowly, "Anything can turn out to be a lie. I can't guarantee her absolute safety forever, either."
Raelynn's heart gave a strange, unexpected tug. She frowned at him.
For a fleeting second, it felt like he was actually taking this seriously.
Arthur grasped Raelynn's hand. "Raelynn, having a powerful family in your corner is never a bad thing. Whether you fully accept them is another matter, but at the very least, let them know the truth. That way, even if it's just out of guilt, they'll act as your shield for the rest of your life."
Raelynn knew he was thinking about the long game.
She understood his desperate need to protect her.
Even though she didn't want anything to do with them, she nodded. "I understand. Don't worry, I won't let myself be taken advantage of."
Arthur was exhausted.
The sharp clarity in his eyes slowly dissolved back into a vacant haze as he laid back against his pillows.
Fighting back her emotions, Raelynn quietly slipped out of the room.
Sebastian turned his head. "No need to read into it."
He stared straight ahead, his tone icy and detached. "Your words and your heart can hold two different answers. You don't have to accept them emotionally, but you can still use the Yves family to your advantage. Everyone has their burdens; you don't always have to wear your heart on your sleeve."
Raelynn turned to him. "And what about you?"
"What about me."
"You watched Seraphina Vance end up in absolute ruins. You look perfectly unbothered on the outside, but do you feel sad or regretful on the inside?"
Sebastian fell silent for a moment before replying, "You have an incredible talent for focusing on the wrong things."
He tilted his chin up slightly, glancing at her intensely curious expression. "How do you think I should feel?"
Raelynn started walking away. "How should I know? We aren't exactly close."
They had skipped the dating phase, skipped getting to know each other, skipped absolutely everything, and jumped straight into marriage. After marrying, they lived in different countries, and then a homewrecker stepped in. Their relationship had been a mistake from day one.

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
