Perhaps Raelynn was too agreeable. Her face betrayed no special emotion, as calm as if she were merely eating a meal or drinking a glass of water. Her reaction was so understated that the onlookers seemed more thrilled than she was.
In an instant, the perceptive waitstaff uniformly popped champagne poppers.
Ribbons soared through the air, celebrating their newly minted engagement.
The cheering grew louder.
Sebastian had witnessed firsthand just how unhesitatingly Raelynn had accepted.
It happened so fast that almost no one had time to react.
Even Sierra Yves stood dazed for a good moment, staring at the couple in the center of the room.
Sebastian's lips curled into a faint, cynical line. He turned away to change his clothes.
He had zero desire to participate in the jubilant celebration.
Sierra suddenly snapped back to reality.
She cast a complicated look at the couple, her gaze lingering briefly on Ian Hudson before she turned to chase after Sebastian.

Raelynn knew exactly why Garrett Gallagher had arranged such a public spectacle today.
It was about saving face.
She was highly adept at reading the room and would never do anything to displease The Hudson Family or The Gallagher Family.
After all, Lily was still legally registered under the Hudson family name.
She understood how to play her part better than anyone.
She didn't care where Sebastian went—that was none of her business. After she put on the ring, Garrett walked over in high spirits. "If I hadn't given you two a little push, this beautiful evening would have gone to waste."
Ian was in a good mood, a rare smile gracing his usually stoic and serious face. "Raelynn prefers to keep things low-key. Garrett, you should ask for her thoughts next time."
Garrett waved off the complaint. "What girl doesn't like feeling loved and valued? You overthink things."
He then looked at Raelynn. "We're family now. You can just call me Garrett, or whatever you're comfortable with. Come, let me introduce you to some of the elders."
Raelynn couldn't gracefully decline.
So she nodded.
Just then, Ian's phone rang.
He had an important meeting to attend tonight, so he told Garrett, "I need to find a quiet place for a video call. Garrett, please take care of Raelynn."
Feeling as if she had been granted a pardon, Raelynn took the opportunity to slip away.
She took her card and headed to the third floor.
As she rounded a corner.
Raelynn saw Sebastian coming from the opposite direction.
He hadn't changed his clothes yet.
The overhead lights in the corridor were dim, and his wheelchair moved silently forward. She couldn't even make out his expression.
But Raelynn didn't stop. She kept her eyes straight ahead.
Treating him like a complete stranger, she fully intended to walk right past him.
However, as they crossed paths.
Sebastian reached out and grabbed her wrist. The diamond ring on her middle finger caught the dim light, sparkling with a blinding brilliance.
"What are you doing?" Raelynn immediately tried to pull away.
Sebastian's grip was strong. He held her tight, his gaze fixed entirely on the diamond ring. "Have you made up your mind?"

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
