She couldn't just sit there and wait to die, forced into a corner by their threats. She couldn't do it.
If this were the past, she might have felt a lingering sense of guilt or obligation toward Ian that would have kept her trapped. But right now, both Ian and the Hudson empire had dealt her a devastating blow.
She refused to just roll over and accept defeat.
Now, it wasn't just the Croix family she was fighting. The Hudsons were standing firmly on enemy lines as well.
She reached for her phone to call Chloe.
But before she could dial, Chloe's name flashed on the screen.
Answering the call, Chloe's voice came through, thick with fury and guilt. "Raelynn, I just found out about what they're planning with Lily. The Hudson family is in an uproar. They're holding a massive internal summit right now, planning to hand Lily over to the Croix family as a corporate favor... I am so sorry."
Raelynn closed her eyes. "This has nothing to do with you."
Chloe was only from a branch family; she held zero sway over the billionaire executives' decisions.
Chloe loved Lily like her own niece. She knew exactly how utterly devastating it would be for Raelynn if the Croix family tore her daughter away.
"Now that Sebastian is coming for her, and the Croix family is dropping such insane leverage on the table, what are you going to do?"
Raelynn stared into the sprawling, icy night. "Are the Hudsons still in that meeting?"
"They're still negotiating. Since it involves massive corporate restructuring, they're taking it incredibly seriously."
Raelynn took a deep, steadying breath. "Are you willing to help me? I'm completely out of options."
Chloe didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second. "The Hudsons were the ones who stabbed you in the back first. They're violating everything they originally promised. Whatever you need me to do, if it's in my power, I'll do it. I'm not going to just stand by and watch them steal Lily."
A rush of warmth flooded Raelynn's chest, breathing life back into her frozen veins. "What these two families are plotting is completely unethical. They're bypassing the mother's legal rights to settle this in the shadows. The Hudsons are literally selling someone else's child, while Sebastian and the Croix family betrayed me first to steal her. If this blows up, the PR fallout will annihilate both corporations. That's why they have to keep it airtight. I need you to record that meeting. Get their extortion on tape. Tomorrow, I'm going to cause a massive scene at the wedding. If I blow it wide open, I'll actually have a fighting chance."
She was going to drag their filthy, immoral corporate child-trafficking into the brutal light of day, and then use the ensuing media firestorm to file an immediate lawsuit.
Under that kind of pressure.
Raelynn stared at Dr. Evelyn Hayes's contact on her screen.
Her fingers hovered rigidly over the glass for what felt like an eternity before she finally pressed call.
It took a while for the line to connect, but the voice on the other end wasn't Dr. Hayes. It was her assistant. "Ms. Ortiz? Are you looking for Chairwoman Hayes? She's currently in Hong Kong for a symposium. Let me go pull her out of the meeting."
Raelynn's eyes shifted slightly. "She's still awake?"
"Yes, the Chairwoman is in a late-night conference with a few international scholars. But don't worry, she's been prioritizing your wedding all week. She actually had me book an early morning flight so she can wrap up her work early and fly straight back. She absolutely refuses to miss it."
Raelynn fell silent for a moment.
In the end, she decided to keep her off the battlefield. "It's nothing urgent. I'll see her tomorrow."
She ended the call.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
