Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 858

"Alright."

Sebastian kept his gaze fixed on her. "What are you thinking?"

Raelynn stared at Sierra's pale, motionless face.

"Do you think the chandelier falling was an accident?" she asked in return.

"No." His answer was sharp and completely devoid of hesitation.

A turbulent storm raged in Raelynn's chest, but she ruthlessly suppressed it.

Keeping her expression detached, she continued administering first aid.

A chandelier that massive—if it had landed squarely on someone, especially a frail patient who had been comatose for years, it would be an undisputed, instantaneous death sentence.

Sierra had only been clipped by a fraction of the debris, yet she was bleeding profusely. What would have happened to Rowan, who was dead-center beneath it, or Dr. Hayes, who had been walking straight into the strike zone?

One invalid and one elderly woman.

Would they even have stood a chance?

Her mind was overloaded with dark thoughts.

Raelynn's lips pressed into a thin line, her breathing growing heavy. The hand applying pressure to the wound began to shake uncontrollably.

Suddenly.

A large, warm hand enveloped her bloodstained, trembling fingers.

Raelynn didn't look up.

Sebastian's calm, steady voice anchored her. "It was a false alarm. The people you care about are safe."

She kept her head bowed.

But her eyes were fixated on the hand holding hers.

She didn't say another word.

The convoy sped toward the hospital.

Fortunately, a branch of Covenant Medical Center was nearby. They arrived in barely ten minutes.

The cars braked in a staggered line outside the entrance.

With a heavy sigh, she took the pills and swallowed them with some water.

Julian subtly shot Raelynn a thumbs-up.

His grandmother was notoriously stubborn. She had been a force of nature her whole life and never listened to anyone. Raelynn was the only one who could actually manage her.

"I just hate that this was supposed to be a joyous occasion for you and little Lily, and it turned into this disaster. I was worried it would upset you," Dr. Hayes murmured.

Raelynn paused.

Her gaze drifted over to where Sylvia was standing.

Her tone carried a distinct chill. "It does."

No one had expected her to be so blunt. After all, someone had just nearly died—feelings usually took a backseat to life-and-death stakes.

Julian straightened his posture. "Then we'll throw another celebration for you later."

"No need." Raelynn turned back, her eyes icy as she emphasized every word. "Just figure out how exactly this 'accident' happened."

Hearing her tone, Julian narrowed his eyes, his voice dropping into a dangerous register. "Everything in the estate is maintained on a strict schedule. That chandelier failing today of all days is definitely suspicious."
