Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 872

She just needed an IV drip and some rest.

Raelynn slept for a while.

By the time she woke up, the sky outside was dark.

It had started snowing again.

The lights in the hospital room were dim and soft, perfect for resting.

She opened her eyes and turned her head, spotting Sebastian sitting with his legs crossed, working on a laptop resting on his lap.

The moment she opened her eyes.

He looked up.

Closing his laptop, he checked the fluid level in her IV bag. "Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere? Hungry? Do you want some water?"

Raelynn shook her head.

Staring at the ceiling light, she blinked hard and asked in a hoarse voice.

"What time is it?"

"Just before seven."

"Where's my mom?"

"She stayed with you all afternoon. She really needed to go back to take her medication, so Chloe took her home."

"Oh."

Raelynn nodded, feeling relieved.

She didn't say anything else.

Sebastian didn't bother her.

Raelynn's chest ached. She wanted to cry, but the tears just wouldn't fall. She turned over, facing away from him.

She knew very well.

Sebastian had orchestrated a lot of this.

Some things didn't need to be spelled out right now.

She closed her eyes, moisture finally gathering at the corners. For Lydia, for Rowan, for herself.

She didn't know how much time had passed.

If it were the past.

She might have wondered if he had feelings for her, if he wanted to reconcile.

But Sebastian had personally denied that.

He had zero romantic intentions.

That was what made this so illogical.

People always had motives for their actions, especially businessmen. They didn't do thankless tasks for free.

He was moving mountains to help her while simultaneously drawing a firm line between them.

Sebastian looked at her.

Raelynn eyed him suspiciously. "Is it out of guilt?"

But even if it was guilt, it was only because their feelings hadn't matched up. She had loved him desperately, and he had made it clear from the start he wouldn't love her back. His detachment had certainly hurt her deeply.

But after the divorce, he had given her more than enough financial compensation, and he hadn't even fought her for Lily's custody. If it was just about emotional debt, they were more than even.

She just couldn't figure out his true motive.
